Ben Affleck Says He Knows All Of Jennifer Lopez’s Songs And Calls Her The Greatest Performer Of All Time

Move over, the Harlem Globetrotters! According to Ben Affleck, there’s a new “greatest performer in the history of the world”, and it’s his wife, Jennifer Lopez. ET reports that 50-year-old Ben shared this completely unbiased opinion on the podcast Smartless, hosted by Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman, who Ben worked with on the new Nike movie, Air. Jason asked Ben if he knew all of JLo’s music, and Ben replied that, yes, not only does he know all her music, he loves it, and “it’s brilliant.” Well, I’m glad Ben’s lobotomy was a success.
Those Smartless boys didn’t waste any time. The moment Ben arrived, Jason asked him, “What songs have been written about you?” Sean Hayes, who famously worked with JLo on Will & Grace, cut in, answering, “‘Dear Ben’ and ‘Dear Ben Part 2’!” Ben followed up with:
“The songs that have been written about me have been written by the greatest performer in the history of the world, Jennifer Lopez. I don’t know if they are exactly about me, as maybe inspired by me because there are some negative things in there. She’s amazing.”
Sean began talking about how he was blown away by Jennifer’s recent Netflix documentary, Halftime, and here’s how Ben responded:
“It takes a big man not to feel inadequate in the face of my wife’s many, many accomplishments,” adds Affleck. “I don’t feel bad about myself.”
“I’m not low self-esteem, well I am, I’m fishing a little bit. No, the truth is it’s amazing, sometimes I completely forget, here’s this incredible actress and this incredible performer and then we’re sitting in the car and I’m humming along, as I will with the radio, and then a professional singer goes ahead and sings along and you kinda feel like ‘Well that’s embarrassing, maybe I should just zip it.'”
Who was the professional singer? Ashanti?? This is when Jason asked Ben if he knew all of JLo’s music:
“I do know all her music,” replies Affleck.
While adding he will not be singing his wife’s songs, Hayes starts crooning Lopez’s iconic Waiting for Tonight, which Arnett says sounds more like Cher.
“I do love her music and it’s brilliant and I know all of it, thank you,” says Affleck.
Here’s Ben’s podcast appearance. The JLo stuff is around the seven-minute mark:
Snark aside, I would expect my husband to speak just as glowingly about me in public. Anything less would be a slap in the face. Anyhow, Ben owes Jen. She did the Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad for him, even after his dead-eyed Grammys appearance. And for the Greatest Performer in the History of the World to go from headlining the Super Bowl halftime show to shilling Dunkin’ during the commercial break? It’s a step-down. So get to grovelin’, Affleck.
