Reese Witherspoon Officially Filed For Divorce From Jim Toth, And They Have a Prenup
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth–seen here giving “creepy couple who seemed to pop up everywhere you’d turn at a discount all-inclusive resort to insist on buying you a drink because they ‘saw you from across the bar and really liked your vibe’” realness–snuck in an end-of-the-week joint divorce announcement on Instagram just two Fridays ago after reportedly “growing apart.” And it looks like Reese is wasting no time getting rid of Jim and his midlife crisis jewelry; because she has already officially filed. They have a prenup in place, so the financial aspect might not get that messy.
According to Page Six, Reese filed to end her and Jim’s almost 12-year marriage in Tennessee, citing the ever-popular “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. The two will also have to have a parenting plan approved by the judge and complete a required parenting class.
The “Legally Blonde” star, 47, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to Davidson County court records obtained by TMZ Saturday.
The former couple — who share 10-year-old son Tennessee — will have to register for a parenting class, which is mandated in Davidson County.
They will then have 60 days to submit a certificate of completion to the court.
Sorry, Laura Jean Poon, but a “do you know who I am” probably won’t get you out of attending co-parenting class, so whip out those Elle Woods learnin’ glasses and crack those books! Reese and Jim, 52, do have a solid prenup in place. The two made $900 million selling Reese’s production company, Hello Sunshine–though they took some losses in Jim’s failed Quibi venture–so there’s likely a good amount of financial matters to hammer out. But Jim probably won’t have to fight to keep his newfound collection of chunky necklaces.
Witherspoon and Toth signed a prenuptial agreement in March 2011 that is valid and will provide “adequate and sufficient provisions” for their assets and debts, per the documents filed in Nashville, Tenn. Witherspoon will reportedly submit their prenup to a judge for approval.
It seems like Reese has been trying to handle this by taking a page from her pal Gwyneth Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling” book, but we all know her inner Laura Jeanne will be slyly pulling one of these every time Jim pulls up to their kid’s soccer game in his struggle-Lambo:
