Open Post: Hosted By Kelly Clarkson Covering “abcdefu” And Changing The Lyrics To Reference Her Divorce From Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson endured a long, sloppy divorce from her weaselly squatter of an ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. And since she had to pay him millions to finally Walk Away, she’s using A Moment Like This to express her anger through song! During the “Kellyoke” segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly covered the song “abcdefu” by Gayle but added her own petty twist to it by referencing her relationship with her ex-manager/ex-husband, Brandon.
If you’re unfamiliar with the song, here’s the original, where Gayle sings “ “Fuck you and your mom and your sister and your job / and your broke-ass car and that shit you call art”:
And on Thursday’s episode of her show, Kelly, 40, sang it, but instead decided to dog Brandon’s dad (who happens to be television producer/ex-hubby of Reba McEntire, Narvel Blackstock) and bemoan the buttload of money she had to pay Brandon to scram. via Us Weekly:
“F you and your dad and the fact that you got half / and my broken heart / turn that s—t into art,” the American Idol alum sang, seemingly referencing her contentious divorce from her former manager, 46, which was settled in March 2022.
Per the terms of Clarkson and Blackstock’s divorce settlement, the “Since U Been Gone” songstress agreed to pay her ex-husband a one-time amount of $1.3 million in addition to $46,500 per month in child support and $115,000 per month in spousal support until 2024. The Grammy winner also received primary custody of the pair’s two children: daughter River 8, and son Remington, 6.
Here’s “abcdefu, Brandon Blackstock”:
Earlier this week, Kelly announced that she has a new album coming out soon called Chemistry–which she says is about “the arc of an entire relationship”– so getting shady about your ex is one way to create some anticipation. Fingers crossed for a Kelly/Reba (ft. Justin Guarini) scorned divorcée collab called “Kick Rocks, Blackstocks!”
