Priyanka Chopra Jonas Explains The Real Reason Why She Left Bollywood

Before Priyanka Chopra Jonas starred in the show Quantico, married Nick Jonas, and made a baby via surrogate with him, she was, of course, a huge Bollywood star and one of the highest-paid actresses. And unfortunately, she didn’t leave Bollywood without a few scandals and skeletons in her abandoned closets. It’s been rumored that Priyanka was pushed out of Bollywood by Indian film producer Gauri Khan after Priyanka allegedly had an affair with Gauri’s husband, the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Priyanka was also in a feud with Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, and it’s been claimed that Karan drove Priyanka out of Bollywood.  So because of all that, it’s unsurprising that she’s blaming “beef with people” on why she left Bollywood for Hollywood.

CNN reports during a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Priyanka let that beautiful mane of Pantene-infused hair down to have a real conversation about how she got to where she is. Priyanka admitted she had tired of the politics back in Bollywood and had a few unfortunate fallouts with the powers that be who ran things. And thus began the story that made her turn those big brown eyes toward America and think to herself, “Fuck this shit!”

Chopra Jonas said that she “had people not casting me” and that she “had beef with people” in Bollywood. She added that she had “never said this” before.

The “Matrix Resurrections” star had a thriving career as a Bollywood actor in India before she came to the US but admitted that, at the time, she was “tired of the politics.”

“I just needed a break,” she said.

That break from acting in India came when an opportunity to travel to America and work in the music industry was presented to her, which eventually led Chopra Jonas to sign a deal with Interscope Records as a singer in the early 2010s.

“When this music thing came I was like, you know what, ‘f**k it.’ I’m going to go to America,” she said.

Honestly, I had no idea Priyanka released any music, so after a bit of research, I found one of her videos. The video is for a song titled Exotic and was produced by Pitbull, and just as you can imagine, it’s pretty awful.

I’m not sure about you, but I caught more than a few seizures within the first three seconds of that video. And after this ill-fated venture, Mrs. Chopra-Jonas decided music wasn’t for her. Instead, she wanted people to experience seizures from her monotone acting, which began after her turn as an FBI agent on Quantico.

“I read the pilot so I knew what the tone of the show was and I worked with an acting coach,” she said.

Chopra Jonas landed the role and starred in “Quantico” as FBI recruit Alex Parrish for the show’s three seasons between 2015 and 2018.

“That one audition at that phase in my life really defined me,”

Soon afterward, she married Nick and later became “The Chopra Wife” to some Americans like Rosie O’Donnell. When Rosie called Priyanka “The Chopra Wife,” Priyanka told Rosie to Google her. Well, next time, she may want to add, “Google me but skip all that Bollywood drama stuff.“
