Jonathan Majors’ Attorney Releases Text Messages From His Alleged Victim To Try To Prove His Innocence

A quick second after the internet got another potent dose of This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things when Jonathan Majors was arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in NYC, his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, pulled a Johnny Depp by claiming Jonathan is the only victim in all this. Priya Chaudhry claims they have video footage that will clear his name and that the alleged victim took back her allegations. If you’re looking for the supposed video footage that will prove his innocence, then you’ll only find crickets and mothballs out there because that footage hasn’t been released. But Priya Chaudhry did release text messages to Jonathan from his girlfriend on the day of his arrest. And well, I don’t know if it’s the smoking gun that Jonathan’s team thinks it is. It’s more like one of those prank water guns that backfires and squirts water onto your face when you pull the plastic trigger. Because I don’t think these texts are helping his case.

Jonathan Majors was arrested over the weekend for domestic assault and was later charged with three counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree. Jonathan’s girlfriend reportedly told the police that on Friday night, she looked at his phone and noticed text messages from another woman. When she confronted him about it, he allegedly hit her and choked her. She went to the hospital the next morning to be treated for her injuries.

Now Jonathan’s team is rolling out Mission: Save Jonathan Majors’ Marvel Check by putting together evidence they think will clear him. Priya Chaudhry tells the MCU news site, The Direct, that Jonathan is actually the one who called 911 “out of concern for the woman’s mental health,”  and he was only arrested because of NYPD protocol:

“The police arrived with the paramedics, as is standard procedure, and arrested Mr. Majors due to an NYPD protocol requiring arrest in certain circumstances. On that same day, only 7 and 9 hours later, the woman sent text messages to Mr. Majors admitting that she was the one who used physical force against him.”

And about those text messages… Priya Chaudhry gave the text messages to both TMZ and The Direct. TMZ says the text thread starts with the woman writing, “There’s no note. Just you know what happened.” Then on the day of his arrest, Jonathan texts her, “Did you leave the keys?” and “Goodbye [redacted].” Later that day, she texts an apology to him and says she told the police it was her fault for grabbing his phone. A few hours later, she texts him again while sounding scared and panicked and tells him it’s going to be okay.

To me, those texts read like they’re straight out of a textbook on how domestic violence victims talk to their abusers. And yet, several people on Jonathan Majors’ team probably looked at those texts and thought, “Case closed! Get Mickey on the line and tell him it’s safe to keep the Marvel checks coming now.”
