Selena Gomez Dated Zayn Malik A Decade Ago And His Ex Gigi Hadid Doesn’t Care Who He Dates
Yesterday, Emily updated us on what we can only hope is the end of the fan-fueled feud between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber. We also learned that Selena was spotted moving on to potentially messier horizons by hooking up with Gigi Hadid’s baby daddy, Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction. More recently, Zayne was shown the door after allegedly getting physical with Gigi’s mom Yolanda Hadid. But as much as I hate to be the one to unravel Emily’s beautifully constructed murder board connecting Selena’s bits to Zayn’s bobbles by way of Hadids, according to Page Six, Selena actually dated Zayn first, back when he and Harry Styles were still moving in the same direction and Harry was dating Taylor Swift. So you see, it all has to come down. Every last push pin and every inch of string. And somebody (not it!) is going to have to hunt down Taylor’s long-lost red scarf cuz we’re gonna need the yarn.
Don’t bother asking Harry; we know he never saw it. Besides, he’s busy complicating a different murder board where some poor lunatic is desperately trying to finger Chet Hanks for some reason (regretfully it). But back to Selena and Zayn. Apparently, they hooked up long ago, back in the days when #SquadGoals was a thing. Were we ever so young? Page Six reports:
Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik’s alleged PDA-packed dinner date comes as no surprise to those who know them — because the pair has hooked up in the past.
The singers’ first tryst happened “way back” in the day when Gomez’s best pal, Taylor Swift, was dating Malik’s former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles, Page Six is told.
Swift, now 33, and Styles, now 29, got together in the fall of 2012 and were first photographed that December.
They called it quits the following month.
But it seems their short-lived fling was enough to lead Gomez and Malik to try their hand at romance, as a top music industry source tells us: “They had a thing years ago, when Taylor and Harry were dating.”
A few years later at the tail end of 2015, while on a break from Justin Bieber, Selena did the Tonsil Tango with Niall Horan, also of 1D. This was a month after InStyle UK asked her if she’d ever consider dating Zayn, who was dating Gigi at the time, to which she answered, “if he had asked me out on a date, I would be seen with him.” But apparently, that had previously already happened. And since I’m already standing here with wild eyes, bits of string in my hair, and ink all over my shirt, I’ll tell you that just before Selena made out with Niall, she was spotted at a hotel bar with Justin, who stood up and took the microphone from the piano player and serenaded her with My Girl and then left her to go to the clurb with Kylie Jenner, who in turn, left the club with ASAP Rocky. AND SHE STILL GOT BACK WITH HIM. So yes, it’s gonna take me an entire The Weeknd, Bella Hadid‘s ex, to get this all up on the board. The good news is that according to US Weekly, Gigi is spectacularly unbothered by anything Zayn gets up to as long as it doesn’t affect their co-parenting agreements. Us reports:
Who says you can’t move on? Gigi Hadid is supportive of ex Zayn Malik finding love again, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly — and it might just be with Selena Gomez.
“Gigi has no problem whatsoever with Zayn dating,” the insider explains to Us. “As long as he is happy and stable and continues to be a good coparent to [their daughter] Khai, she’s fine with whoever he goes out with.”
Page Six reports that after their recent rendezvous, Zayn “became one of Gomez’s 403 million followers” on Instagram. She is now one of the only 18 accounts, at least five of which are Zayn Malik fan accounts, that he follows. So, you know, choices! Selena continues to make them. But then again, she could, and has, done worse. But if I was her, I’d stay as far away from men with microphones as humanly possible.
