Open Post: Hosted By The Woman Who Used Grindr To Find Her Missing Cat

March 28, 2023 / Posted by:

I doubt many people searching for sexy times on Grindr are thinking of using it as a means to locate lost animals. But much like Grindr’s unofficial catchphrase, sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Hence the woman from the town of Brighton in England who reached out to users on both Grindr and Tinder to locate her missing cat, Ruby. And I’m surprised that, since they’re in England, at no point during her investigative search on Grindr, someone didn’t message her and say, “This ain’t the place you come lookin’ for pussy, honey.”

According to Queerty, Erin Johansen‘s cat Ruby somehow went astray and could not be located. So Erin came up with a brilliant idea; ask the slutty singles! You see, sometimes searching for love can be an arduous and annoying task, especially when constantly faced with the very real threat of dead-end conversations that begin with “sup” and die at “WYD.” Why not throw a cute missing kitty in the mix to remind us all that hook-ups are cool, but cute animals will always be the real cure for loneliness?

According to Johansen, who lives in the Elm Grove area of Brighton, UK, users started reporting sightings of Ruby after seeing her photo on the apps, despite the fact that her profile described her as a “chill, curious and goofy” 21-year-old with an “average body build” who enjoys “karaoke, movies and reading” and was “looking for dates.” Hey, it’s never too late to find love, or, in this case, be on the hunt for a discreet spot to meet, even if you’re a cat!

Johansen told the DailyMail: “There’s a huge LGBTQ+ community around Brighton and we were hoping to put the word out to as many people as possible. I thought we would get messages making fun, but everyone took it really seriously and were just looking to help.”

Eight people contacted Erin regarding Ruby, out of which three reached out through Grindr to report seeing the cat.

Eventually, Ruby was found in a neighbor’s garden safe and sound so at least this Grindr story has a happy ending. Well, an actual happy ending and not like the ones those folks are looking for whenever they log in.
