YouTuber Tasha K Fails Her Appeal And Must Pay Cardi B $4 Million In Defamation Settlement

Back in 2019, Cardi B decided to legally come for a blogger and YouTuber, Latasha “Tasha K” Kebe, who claimed Cardi was doing drugs and was a herpes-ridden prostitute. I mean, at least throw in an “allegedly,” sweetie! Cardi sued Tasha for defamation and successfully won a $4 million settlement. Tasha appealed, and that decision is in. Cardi B is a winner again. The $4 million settlement stands, and Tasha K has hopped onto Twitter to basically say: “WELL, FML!”

Cardi initially won $1.25 million in damages and was subsequently also awarded $1.5 million in punitive damages, as well as expenses and attorneys fees. This lawsuit may have been avoided if Tasha took down the videos as Cardi B’s lawyers threatened her. What a $4 million choice, one that Tasha is surely regretting now. via Insider:

Cardi sued Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, for defamation in 2019, claiming the YouTuber had launched a “malicious campaign” against her and became “obsessed” with her. She won the case in January 2022, with a federal jury ordering Kebe to pay Cardi $4 million in damages and legal fees.Kebe appealed the verdict later in 2022, claiming that the verdict against her was the result of a “very lopsided presentation of evidence to the jury.”On Tuesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit rejected Kebe’s appeal.

The court ruled that Kebe’s claim of key evidence being withheld in the original trial was false and that the YouTuber had failed to properly make her argument to the trial judge, meaning she forfeited the right to do so before an appeals court.

“There are two issues here. One is whether the jury had sufficient evidence to hold appellants—Latasha Kebe and others—liable for defamation (and other privacy torts) against appellee Belcalis Almanzar (better known as ‘Cardi B’). The other is whether the district court erred by excluding evidence,” the appeals court wrote. “We hold that Kebe hasn’t preserved either issue for appeal.”

After losing yet again, Tasha hit up Instagram with a message:

I’m sure that after this win, the Queen of Suing People For Millions Who Can’t Afford It, Kris Jenner, probably sent Cardi B a floral arrangement saying, “Congratulations on the win!”
