Bethenny Frankel Defends Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Starvation Diet” While Meghan McCain Blasts It

How many times can you say the B is back before it just doesn’t mean anything anymore? Former Real Housewives of New York mess Bethenny Frankel has returned to give us yet another rant that nobody asked for. And this time, she’s counterattacking social media users and health professionals who blasted Gwyneth Paltrow for her “wellness routine“ (hold the wellness) of ingesting just coffee, bone broth, and some vegetables. But while most are dragging Goopy, Bethenny Frankel (she of “look at me in my 4-year-old daughter’s pajamas“) has become a Goopy defender. For someone who says she doesn’t care what anyone thinks, Bethenny never fails to deliver a tirade on what people think.
Bethenny posted a video on Instagram and asked her followers, “Why does anyone care if Gwyneth Paltrow says that she drinks bone broth for breakfast and intermittent fasts? This is the woman that does cupping and ozone therapy up the ass.” Sure, it’s all very on-brand for the woman who practically has an IV drip permanently attached to her and a candle that’s marketed to smell like her coochie, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be called out for dangerous shit. But Bethenny seemingly views eating disorder development as an occurrence that’s limited to tweens, emphasizing that Gwyneth’s following is mostly moms. So somehow, in her mind, it cancels out? According to Page Six:
“When people are talking about eating disorders … her base isn’t tweens,” Frankel, 52, said while holding a carton of ice cream she promised to eat “soon.”
“My daughter, [Bryn], doesn’t know who Gwyneth Paltrow is,” Frankel continued. “It’s not for 18-year-olds, I think it’s for moms.”
She claimed parents “all know her shtick” and have been hearing it “for years.”
Here’s the video in question:
In the famous words of New York’s Real Housewife Ramona Singer, “Wow Bethenny, wow.” Her followers sounded off in the video’s comment section, doing the Lord’s work by pointing out that “Moms who follow and admire her are just as susceptible to Eating Disorders as the 18-year-olds.” But I’m gonna put on my psychic hat for a moment and predict that Bethenny will find a way to undermine their sanity with another video of her yelling in her kitchen or in her podcast Just B With Bethenny Frankel.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the playing field, professional daughter Meghan McCain dragged Gwyneth in her column for The Daily Mail (HA!). Meghan wrote that Gwyneth has become an “icon for almond moms” and doesn’t look healthy, adding:
She once lamented that she ‘broke down and ate bread’ during the COVID pandemic while many Americans were struggling to buy groceries. And she claimed she would rather ‘smoke crack’ than eat cheese out of a can. Interestingly, she admitted to smoking cigarettes and doing cocaine in the past, so you make sense of that one.
But for someone as rich and famous as Gwyneth Paltrow, her life sounds like a living hell. Nothing about her day sounds nourishing or fulfilling. The laser focus on ‘wellness’ seems obsessive and, quite frankly, unwell.
Team No One, really. But when you make Meghan McCain sound like the voice of reason by comparison, then it’s time for you to reconsider opening your mouth and speaking.
