Pauly Shore Either Loved Or Hated That Jimmy Kimmel Made A Joke About Him At The Oscars

There are two sides to every story, and sometimes there are even two sides to each side of every story. Such is the case with the cast of 1992’s Encino Man which starred first-time Oscar winner Brendan Fraser, first-time Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan and multiple Razzies winner Pauly Shore. According to Entertainment Weekly, Pauly, the winner of Worst New Star of the Year for Encino Manloved it” when Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at him in his opening monologue. But according to Page Six, the winner of Worst New Star of the Decade for the 1990s reminded them that “human beings have feelings,” and his were apparently hurt when Jimmy suggested that “maybe it’s time to reboot Bio-Dome” a movie for which Pauly won Worst Actor of the Year.

As much as some of us elders would like to forget, Pauly, also known as his grating alter ego “The Weasel,” had our culture in a vice grip throughout the 90s and tested the upper limits of just how far nepotism can take a person/mustelid. Pauly, whose parents founded The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, started his career as a stand up comic at 17 before becoming an MTV VJ which, for reasons unknown, lead to a starring role in Encino Man opposite Brendan and Ke Huy. Do you feel old yet? I sure do. EW reports:

It’s good to see Pauly Shore hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

A day after Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel made a joke at Shore’s expense during his opening monologue, the actor and comedian laughed it off — and gave a heartfelt shout-out to his old Encino Man costars Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan, both of whom took home trophies Sunday.

Here’s Pauly’s tweet congratulating his costars for their inspirational wins.

Ah yes, 1996’s stoner comedy Bio-Dome — Starring Worst Actor of The Century nominee Pauly and Hailey Bieber’s pre-born again dad Stephen Baldwin. Pauly was even more effusive on Instagram in his praise for Jimmy’s jab, writing “Once again, Jimmy, thanks for making a silly about me last night. Fun stuff.” However, when speaking to Page Six, Pauly told a different tale; a tale of woe (doooodz).

Pauly Shore is ready for his own comeback following his “Encino Man” co-stars Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan’s Oscar triumphs.

Shore said the pot-shot was really no different than how people treated him in the past.

“We love to hate people when they’re on top. People wanted to smash me down and they did,” Shore, 55, told Page Six. “I was always nice to everyone, always cool, I put my heart into my all my films.

“You’re buying and selling a human being,” he added of being a celebrity. “Human beings have feelings, it’s not like selling real estate.”

You know, I almost felt bad for making fun of him. But then I remembered, “Hey, BU-DDY” which triggered an ecstasy flashback, and I got sidetracked hunting down a teeny tiny bottle of water to put in my teeny tiny backpack and forgot all about Pauly all over again, thank Stephen Baldwin’s Lord and Savior.
