Open Post: Hosted By Pedro Pascal’s Starbucks Order That Went Viral
Lately, everyone on the Internet is extra-horned up for Pedro Pascal. Blame it on his sexy daddy roles in The Last of Us and The Mandalorian (although, it sounds like his patience for the “daddy” stuff is waning). The Pedro passion has reached such a fever pitch that, now, we’re analyzing the guy’s Starbucks order. People reports that New Yorker @alexainspace posted a TikTok of her meeting with Pedro, who graciously signed her Mandalorian doll and chatted for a bit. In the footage, Pedro is holding a Starbucks drink, and in a follow-up video, @alexainspace zooms into the cup’s label so we can read it. Pedro was drinking an iced quad espresso in a Venti cup with extra ice and six shots of espresso. Six shots of espresso! Listen. If I had to be that polite and gregarious with every person I ran into on the street, I’d need a lot of caffeine too.
One shot of espresso contains about 63 mg of caffeine, so Pedro’s drink clocks in at 378 mg. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (via People), 400 mg a day (or four or five cups of regular coffee) is a safe amount for “healthy adults”. Something tells me that Pedro’s iced quad espresso wasn’t the only caffeinated drink he downed that day, but, hey. To each their own! So far, that second vid has 6.5 million views, and commenters are in awe of how much caffeine Pedro drinks. They wrote stuff like, “is his HEART OKAY!?”, “That is a violent amount of coffee,” and “as a barista, I understand his kind.” As a former barista, I, too, understand his kind. Back in my caffeine-slingin’ days, we had this one regular who came in for six shots of straight espresso every morning. He’d come back in at lunchtime and do it again. Then, around 5:00, he’d return for a regular coffee with two shots of espresso (restraint). The guy barely spoke but tipped big, so we didn’t hate him. Hmmm… I wonder what happened to him. Either he got tons of plastic surgery to become Pedro Pascal, or his heart exploded. Probably the second one!
