The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Is Making A Comeback

It looks like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is going to be coming back, but sadly for Leonardo DiCaprio, the brand is trying to be inclusive now and has been forced to step away from exclusively hiring doe-eyed, barely legal-looking, waif-thin hotties–so he probably won’t be able to find a new girlfriend there. Unless he’s interested in an inclusive dating life, but considering Leo avoids women over the age of 25 like they’re COVID, I don’t really see it.
The success of Savage X Fenty’s inclusive branding and hip-hopping fashion shows really ripped Victoria’s Secret to shreds in a hurry. They’ve been trying to rebrand ever since (no thanks to controversies like a docuseries about their connections to Jeffrey Epstein). They enlisted the help of “brand ambassadors” like Megan Rapinoe and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas.
The VS fashion show was canceled in 2019. The company then snowballed into Hell when a New York Times article came out the following February alleging former Brand Officer, Ed Razek, was a sexual harasser and bully and fostered a misogynistic culture. Ed denied the accusations, but the brand has been in trouble ever since. But things are possibly looking up for Victoria, as People says the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Timothy Johnson, announced the return of its fashion show during a 2022 earnings call last week.
Retail Dive was the first outlet to cover the update. “We’re going to continue to lean into the marketing spend to invest in the business, both at top-of-funnel and also to support the new version of our fashion show, which is to come later this year,” Johnson said.
…A spokesperson for Victoria’s Secret & Co. told PEOPLE on Saturday that the company is committed to championing women and is “always innovating and ideating in all spheres of the business to continue to put our customer at the center of all we do.”
“As we’ve previously shared, our new brand projection and mission will continue to be our guiding principle,” the statement read. “This will lead us into new spaces like reclaiming one of our best marketing and entertainment properties to date and turning it on its head to reflect who we are today. We’re excited to share more later this year.”
Welp, if some conservatives got angry after the M&Ms became unfuckable when they see an inclusive Victoria’s Secret show, they are going to absolutely lose their entire minds and probably literally spontaneously combust. A “Woke Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” will give Tucker Carlson things to complain about for weeks.
