Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have Officially Been Invited To King Charles’ Coronation
People reports that, over the weekend, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told The Sunday Times, “The Duke has recently received an email correspondence from his Majesty’s office regarding the coronation.” Translation: after weeks of hemming and hawing, King Charles finally asked Harry and Meghan to come to his crowning ceremony in May. Via email. I’ll bet the couple’s invite was a “P.S.” at the bottom of their recent eviction notice. The other esteemed guests probably received solid gold invitations personally delivered by one of those silent, fuzzy-hat guards riding a horse and carriage.
Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson revealed that “An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.” So, basically, these two aren’t gonna make a decision until the very last minute for maximum drama. Or maybe they’re holding off until King Charles confirms the coronation’s musical acts. Meghan and Harry ain’t crossing the pond for anyone less than A-list!
Last month, a source told People that Harry and Meghan had yet to receive an invitation to the coronation. Back in January, while promoting his memoir Spare, Harry told ITV that his coronation attendance was still up in the air. via People:
“There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it.”
The tabloids have claimed that Charles actually wanted the couple present for his big day. Not for “I love my son” reasons, for “if they’re NOT there, it’s actually more drama” reasons. Ahhh, I see. It’s like not inviting the aunt you hate to your wedding. You don’t actually want her there, but if you don’t extend the invite, you’re declaring World War III, and it’s all everyone will be gossiping about all day. “Where’s Linda?” “Why didn’t they invite Linda?” “Linda’s PISSED.” But, according to The Daily Mail, Prince William doesn’t agree with his father’s theory. He thinks Harry and Meghan’s attendance will upstage the entire event. “Jesus Christ, Linda wore white and brought some anti-vaxxer she met on Match.com…”
