Prince Harry’s Catching Backlash For Planning To Do An “Intimate Conversation” With Trauma Expert Gabor Maté
The next stop on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Worldwide Privacy Tour will be Haz sitting down for an “intimate” talk with distinguished Canadian trauma and ayahuasca expert Dr. Gabor Maté. But, while one would’ve originally thought the biggest issue here would be that instead of Harry paying for therapy like we mere peasants must, he and Dr. Gabor are actually charging $33 for anyone who wants to tune in to the live stream of the event. And the event is now receiving blowback because of Dr. Gabor’s alleged antisemitism, and Harry has been condemned for associating with him. Uh, I’m assuming these people must’ve missed Harry’s Nazi costume moment if their expectations of him were this high.
TMZ says Harry’s virtual session and accompanying audience Q&A are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The Duke Of Sussex will sit down Saturday with Dr. Gabor Maté for an “intimate conversation” about “living with loss and the importance of personal healing,” according to Harry’s website. After the discussion, viewers can ask the men questions during a live Q&A set up by Random House — the publisher of Harry’s new book, “Spare.”
On the surface, the event sounds like a snoozefest since the entire contents of Harry’s diary are pretty much out there at this point, but there’s outrage a-brewin’. Dr. Gabor’s trauma techniques are controversial on their own, but now some in the Jewish community are calling out his past comment. Dr. Gabor, who is a holocaust survivor, is also friendly with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, who was recently called antisemitic and a Putin apologist by David Gilmour’s wife. Some want Harry to cancel the event, or if he already knew about it, explain why Gabor’s comments didn’t bother him enough to have signed on for this in the first place.
…Maté has previously compared Hamas to heroic Jews who fought the Nazis in Warsaw, Poland, during WWII. Maté has also labeled Israel’s leaders as terrorists.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre blasted Harry for his affiliation with Maté. Cooper told the Jewish Chronicle: “Whoever made the arrangements to have this individual appear with Prince Harry, did him no favors. If Prince Harry knew this man’s record and still chose him for the interview, our Centre would criticize the prince for such an inappropriate choice.”
Allegedly, the royal family will be tuning in, and I would have to assume they’re petty enough to hold the viewing party at Frogmore Cottage.
The Royal Family reportedly plans to watch Harry’s convo with Maté, who has his own disturbing story growing up in Nazi-occupied Budapest in 1944. When Maté was just five months old, his maternal grandparents were among the Jews murdered in Auschwitz. He was also ripped away from his mother and turned over to his aunt, who kept him hidden until the war ended.
