Matthew McConaughey And Camila Alves Were On That Crazy Turbulence Flight That Sent 7 People To The Hospital
On Wednesday, Lufthansa Flight 469 left Austin, Texas for Frankfurt, Germany. About 90 minutes after takeoff, 37,000 feet above Tennessee, the plane was suddenly hit with turbulence. And not just “oo, this is a little bumpy” turbulence. EXTREME turbulence. Everything that wasn’t bolted down went flying, and the flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport in Virginia. 7 people had to be rushed to the hospital with injuries. But the scariest part? This flight had precious cargo! Celebrity passengers Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves. And a Goldendoodle named Arlo (don’t worry, he’s OK).
People reports that Camila revealed she and Matt were on the flight in an Instagram video. The footage shows the aftermath of the turbulence, with food, napkins, dishes, and other objects scattered in the aisle. In the caption, Camila writes:
On Flight last night,I was told plane dropped almost 4000 feet, 7 people went to the hospital, Everything was flying everywhere. To respect the privacy of those around me that’s all I am showing but the plane was a CHAOS And the turbulence keep on coming. The @lufthansa flight you are seeing on the news today!!!! Yes…that one. Thank God everyone was safe and ok.
Camila goes on to thank everyone at the Marriott Bonvoy in Washington who helped her find a hotel room after the emergency landing. She adds that she and Matthew “made it to the bar with 1 minute before closing.” Phew! After getting some sleep, the couple continued their journey on another flight the next morning. Here’s Camila’s post:
If I were on that flight and saw Matthew McConaughey sitting across the aisle from me, I would be terrified. What if we went down and I was forever remembered as one of the “And Others” in the headline “Matthew McConaughey And Others Perish In Plane Crash”??? Also, flights carrying celebrities are actually 62% more likely to crash. Did I pull that stat outta my ass? YES. But think about all the celebrities who died in plane crashes. Aaliyah, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, Patsy Cline, Carole Lombard. As for regular civilians? I can’t even name one. Point made!
