Honey Boo Boo Was In A Car Chase With Police Before Her Boyfriend Was Arrested For A DUI

People reports that Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo, was a passenger in a car cash with police on Tuesday. The driver was her boyfriend, 21-year-old Dralin Carswell. Police say that, after a chase that lasted three miles, he was apprehended. Unfortunately, Dralin had more than go-go juice in his system; he was arrested and charged with a DUI. 17-year-old Alana was not charged, but she is a witness in the case.

The incident went down in Monroe County, Georgia, at around 4:40 PM. According to local media outlet, The Reporter, a police officer ran the tag of a Dodge Charger in front of a gas station. The system confirmed that the owner of the car had a warrant under his name, so the officer attempted to make a traffic stop. But Dralin didn’t stop. He chose to speed away. Eventually, cops used a PIT (precision immobilization technique), a pursuit tactic that forces the fleeing car to spin abruptly and stop.

Dralin was arrested for a DUI, fleeing, failing to maintain lanes, and following too closely. He also received a speeding citation. Another passenger, 24-year-old Julian Malik Divon Williams, was also arrested on outstanding warrants. Alana’s older sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who has sole custody of her, picked her up at Monroe County Jail.

Honey Boo Boo’s been dating Dralin for two years. They allegedly began going out when she was 16, and he was 20, but this Daily Mail article from August 30, 2021 claims the two had been secretly dating for six months. So that would have made Alana 15. Not the legal age of consent in Georgia, which is 16. Hoo boy. Last summer, Honey Boo Boo told Entertainment Tonight: 

“In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s Black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple,” Alana says.

But regardless of what online commentators might think, Alana says the two people whose opinions really matter — her sister and Dralin’s mother — are happy for them. “I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care,” Alana continues.

The month before that, Alana was spotted wearing a diamond ring, but she denied that she was engaged. Then, she announced that she and Dralin would be getting weight loss surgery together, just like Mama June did in 2015. But it’s unclear if they ever went through with it. So far, neither Alana nor Dralin has publicly commented on his arrest. But today, Dralin posted an Instagram story that showed he was shopping at a jewelry store:

Maybe Dralin’s buying Honey Boo Boo something glitzy to make it up to her. Is there a necklace there that says, “Sorry I DUI-ed?”
