The Loyal Twitter Employee Who Was Seen Sleeping On The Floor Last Year Has Been Fired

Do you remember last year when we found out Elon Musk turned the main offices at Twitter into the worse bed and breakfast in San Francisco? There was even a lovely selection of brochure photos showing the living quarters and a glowing review from one of his most diligent workers, Esther Crawford. As she lay snugly nestled inside a sleeping bag on the floor, shielding her eyes from the embarrassment of being that stupid, she wanted everyone to rest assured, knowing she was doing whatever it took for the betterment of the team. Well, Esther, the team thanks you. And what better way to show gratitude than by giving you your walking papers because in the words of another pasty, pale-faced man baby named Donald Trump, “You’re fired“.

The Independent reports Esther’s dedication to impersonating the conference room carpets at Twitter’s headquarters was rewarded with a swift kick in the ass towards the unemployment line. However, she’s not angry about how things turned out. At the time of her pre-holiday season viral moment, Esther was proud to show how everyone at Twitter is a team. And in order to be a part of the team, sometimes you gotta sleep on the floor.

Unfortunately, in this case, once you awaken from your slumber, sometimes security guards will be waiting to whisk you away to the pavement, where your mission of finding unconventional places to sleep can continue in a cardboard box or the nearby woods.

Esther Crawford, the head of Twitter payments, was among roughly 10 per cent of the staff fired from Twitter in yet another round of job cuts since the billionaire’s takeover of the social media platform.

Twitter Inc has laid off around 200 employees, including product managers, data scientists and engineers who worked on machine learning and site reliability, reported The New York Times, citing people familiar with the matter.

Ms Crawford was pictured sleeping on the office floor in November last year after Mr Musk’s chaotic acquisition of the company.

Following the Tesla boss’s takeover, Ms Crawford reportedly “began angling for a bigger role”, but was eventually laid off.

You would think Esther is now ready to join the rest of the world with two middle fingers aimed directly at Elon. But not even close. Although she worked as hard as she did only to be discarded as a result of her sacrifices, she claims she would do it all again and has absolutely no regrets.
