Aubrey Plaza Looked Visibly Annoyed While On Stage With The Cast Of “The White Lotus” To Accept A SAG Award

And the whole world replied, “that’s just how she always looks!” But this time, there seemed to be conviction and venom behind her signature stank face as she and all 870 members of the cast of season two of The White Lotus took the stage to accept their SAG Award win. Viewers speculated that her extra-sour attitude might’ve been in response to her being alerted to an almost-wardrobe malfunction and then getting almost-elbowed in her already sour puss by rogue huggers.

According to Buzzfeed News, The White Lotus beat out The Crown, Better Call Saul, Ozark, and Severance for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at last night’s SAG Awards. And though the entire enormous cast took the stage to accept the award, F. Murray Abraham, who played the dirty pappy on the show, was tasked with giving the acceptance speech. Everything seemed status quo for an acceptance speech, if not just a little awk for everyone else on stage when F. Murray hollered, “UNION 4EVER.”

“This was the best job I ever had,” the 83-year-old said as he praised the show’s “wonderful family of actors,” as well as its creator, Mike White, and executive producers David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

“Mike and David and Mark pulled together an international company of technicians and actors,” Abraham said. “And we all lived together in the same place, we all ate together, and we all worked together. So this is not only for the actors, this is for the entire company.”

“This is a wonderful time, but I’d like to send a prayer out to the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey, and a prayer for peace in Ukraine and Russia,” he said, before shouting: “Union forever!”

Before anything of note even happened, Aubrey had already made a face behind F. Murray during his speech that could only be described as “the edible hit and you just realized you’re on stage on national TV:”

But upon further inspection, many theorized that Aubrey, who played one of the lead roles of Harper, seemed to be experiencing issues from the back of the crowd that caused her to go full-April Ludgate for the entire duration. The first thing that seemed to annoy her was what looked like Jon Gries grabbing her arm to whisper to her she was about to have a titty malfunction.

Firstly, Aubrey appeared particularly angry right after her costar Jon Gries, who plays Greg Hunt, held onto her arm and whispered something in her ear that prompted her to readjust her cutout dress.

Some people theorized that Jon was warning Aubrey of a potential wardrobe malfunction, which might’ve thrown her off and left her feeling super uncomfortable.

Then, after being shuffled around the back of the group for most of the time, she almost got elbowed in the face by two of her cast members haphazardly hugging right next to her, which presumably led to her muttering “Jesus Christ” while looking right into the camera like she was doing a Parks & Rec confessional before she scurried off of the stage while others lingered and celebrated. Obviously, people noticed.

…Fans also rightfully pointed out that Aubrey was very nearly elbowed in the face when her costars Meghann Fahy and Michael Imperioli shared a hug at the end of Abraham’s speech.

Meghann was seemingly unaware of how close behind her Aubrey was as she enthusiastically hugged Michael. And Aubrey appeared to react by mouthing “Jesus Christ” immediately afterward.

Apparently, some on Twitter are quarreling over whether she said “Jesus Christ” or “Shit’s fucked:

A season three has been greenlit, so hopefully, Aubrey’s character isn’t recurring, so she doesn’t have to painstakingly accept the adoration of others again. Here’s the whole speech and her being heated:

Aubrey’s so morose all of the time, it’s hard to tell if she was actually pissed or if that was her celebratory face and “Jesus Christ!” was her proclamation of triumph; at this point, it would look unnatural for her to outwardly express joy. But she did have a kindred spirit moment with Jenna Ortega:

After all that, hopefully, Aubrey was able to spend the rest of her evening as she’d probably wish to: alone in a bathroom stall, scrawling a list of all of those who’ve wronged her.
