Pink Says That Madonna Doesn’t Like Her

You would think two artists like Pink and Madonna would be the kind of friends who sit next to each other at awards shows, texting back and forth with comments like “You see what this bitch is wearing?”. But alas, that can only be a fantasy because of an incident that occurred many years ago at daytime talk’s equivalent of Hell Live! With Regis and Kelly. And during a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Pink gave a breakdown, and it becomes clear exactly why she and Madge will never be friends.
Let’s take a trip back in time to 2003. It was the first time Pink met Madge, and they seemed to get along very well. And why wouldn’t Madge enjoy the praise she’s become accustomed to since she’s been basking in the adulation of her subjects for centuries.
Unfortunately, that dull look on Madge’s face tells the real story because, according to The New York Post, what transpired earlier left a bad taste in Madge’s mouth that she still hasn’t scrubbed clean in twenty years. During one segment of the interview, Howard reminded the audience that Pink is a huge Madonna fan. This prompted Howard to ask if the two of them were friends, causing Pink to relay the valuable lesson she learned when you don’t immediately bow and curtsy before the Queen of Queefs and Leather.
Pink recalls it being “such a silly story” because “I f—ing love Madonna, and I love her no matter what. I still love her. She was such an inspiration to me.”
However, when the ladies finally got together, the meet and greet “got twisted around that I was fangirling and was dying to meet Madonna when, in actuality, she invited me to her dressing room.”
“So, I just said a joke when Regis brought me out and was like, ‘How does it feel to meet? I heard you’re just falling over yourself backstage.’ I’m like, ‘I thought she wanted to meet me.’”
Madonna did not take well to her sense of humor, so the friendship “didn’t work out for us,” explained Pink.
Stern made light of the feud, saying “I got a surprise for you, Madonna’s here and she’s going to fight you.”
So their friendship, to use one of Pink’s lyrics, was over before it began. And honestly, this story explains why Madge yanked Christina Aguilera onstage at the 2003 VMAs since she and Pink’s feud had been ongoing for a while at that point. I guess Madge wanted to reward Christina with a little loving tonsil hockey to show her gratitude.
