Avril Lavigne Reportedly Ended Her Engagement To Mod Sun Without Telling Him First

TMZ reports that Avril Lavigne, 38, has called off her year-long engagement to messy throupler Mod Sun, 35. Avril was previously married to Deryck Whibley of Sum41 and Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. Mod Sun was pretend married to Bella Thorne and throupled with Tana Mongeau. Now, we all know that age gaps can be a relationship killer, but the power imbalance of an Instagram follower-gap is a silent killer that’s frequently overlooked. So silent, in fact, that Mod Sun wasn’t the first person to find out he’d been disengaged from. Age might be considered nothing but a number to some, but follower count is inarguably numerical in nature. There’s just no getting around the fact that Avril’s 12.1M followers made her the Leonardo di Caprio to Mod Sun’s 19-year-old model #729K in their relationship. So it would make sense if Mod was threatened by rumors that Avril was stepping out with Tyga, 40M, which would make him the Jack Nicholson of this hypothetical throuple scenario.

Thankfully, sources insist that Tyga, who shares a child with Rob Kardashian’s ex Blac Chyna, and Avril, who shares whatever it is she picked up from her relationship with Bella’s ex, are just friends. Me putting Jack Nicholson in the mix doesn’t sound so bad now, does it? But even so, like 728K 19-year-old models before him, Mod Sun has been set adrift on a raft and given a gentle shove westward to join his sisters on the island from Old. TMZ reports:

Sources close to the now-former couple tell us the two had tried to make things work recently, going “on and off” over the last few months, but it just wasn’t right. We’re told not only have they hit the brakes on getting married — they’re no longer together as a couple, either.

At this time, it’s unclear what led to the split … but we’re told there was no cheating on either side.

The news comes on the heels of photos of Avril out to dinner with Tyga and a group of friends Sunday night at NOBU.

We’re told Tyga and Avril appeared extremely comfortable hanging out, and shared a hug in the parking lot before leaving in the same vehicle. The sources we’ve spoken to say the two are good friends, and have been for some time, but it’s nothing romantic.

Well, I’m not sure that’s going to make Mod Sun any happier about waking up on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Getting papped leaving an overpriced restaurant was how their love story/contract negotiations began!

An interesting note, however, is Mod’s rep tells us, “They were together and engaged as of 3 days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed that’s news to him.”

Avril and Mod got engaged last year in March during a trip to Paris. He recently released a new album titled “God Save the Teen” with a handful of songs dedicated to Avril.

Sounds like Avril did him a favor breaking it off just when he could use a boost. Those tour tickets certainly aren’t going to sell themselves. And if you recall, back when he and Bella, 25.5M, broke up, they spent weeks fighting with each other on social media. Avril better take her ass to the church in the basement of the abandoned mall with the Hot Topic that she’s the ghost of, and pray to Auntie Annie that they don’t have wifi on that raft.
