The Judge In Samantha Markle’s Defamation Suit Against Meghan Markle Might Be Leaning Toward Dismissing It

Samantha Markle wants everyone to know she does not come from a poor background, okay? Exhibit A: that majestic banged coiffure of the Florida upper-crust and Exhibit B: the fact that she has the disposable income to toss at her lawyer when her half-sister, Meghan Markle, opens her mouth. As we know, South Park sweethearts Meghan and Prince Harry requested to avoid sitting for a depo in the ongoing defamation suit Samantha filed against Meghan after her Oprah interview, but that motion was denied. However, Meghan’s legal team recently again asked for the suit to be tossed out when they showed up in court, and after the judge heard from both sides, she made it known that she may end up dismissing the case.

According to TMZ, court was in session on Wednesday so cyber-nightmare Samantha and her lawyers could lay out all of the things “Princess Pushy” Meghan said about growing up as an “only child,” their dad Thomas Markle, and her rags-to-riches backstory that were embarrassing to 58-year-old Samantha, who’s asking for $75,000 in damages.

Samantha Markle claimed Meghan was peddling lies about her in both the Oprah interview and a 2020 bio, “Finding Freedom.” Specifically, Samantha claims her half-sis lied when she allegedly said she was an only child, causing her humiliation and shame. Meghan’s lawyers fired back … their client never said she was an only child. She told Oprah she grew up as an only child.

Samantha claimed Meghan lied about her upbringing, and when she got caught in lies, she turned Samantha into a sacrificial lamb and attacked her to cover up her own alleged misdeeds.

As for the alleged lies … Samantha points to what she says is Meghan’s rags-to-riches narrative, growing up in poverty when she had a middle-class background. She says their dad, Thomas, paid for all sorts of things for Meghan, including elite private schools, tuition at Northwestern as well as dance and acting classes.

And Meghan’s lawyers maintained that the case should be dismissed because Meghan’s perceptions of her own childhood aren’t defamatory.

MM’s lawyers asked the judge to boot the case, calling the claims “offensive” and “inappropriate.” Her lawyers say Meghan merely stated her impressions about her life growing up.

After hearing from both, the judge mentioned the possibility of dismissing the case since the items Samantha’s counsel laid out don’t meet the requirements for defamation, and because these are probably the weakest examples of mudslinging ever made in Florida history; surely Florida defamation usually slaps harder. via The New York Post:

Judge Charlene Honeywell said she was “really struggling” to see how Meghan published her so-called defamatory statements against Samantha — a requirement in such lawsuits.

She plans to issue her written judgment at a later date, but noted the case may be “ripe for dismissal,” according to the Daily Mail.

Every time I see these two together side-by-side, I notice such a family resemblance; and not just because they share the Markle eyes and nose, but also due to their seemingly genetically ingrained drive to convert the annoying sounds from their talk holes into currency. That’s daddy’s girls!
