Bethenny Frankel Says She And Martha Stewart Hate Each Other
Bethenny Frankel recently talked about how she and Martha Stewart are apparently arch-nemeses. Maybe in Bethenny’s head! Martha’s out here doing her own “not re-imaged” thing and is not worried about Bethenny. So we think! Bethenny explained on her podcast, Just B with Bethenny Frankel, how Martha actually hates her ass. And let me tell you, I’ve seen Real Housewives of New York and know how several women feel about Bethenny and Martha is certainly not the only one!
Bethenny explains that this schism dates back years and years, all the way to 2005, when Martha hosted a spinoff of The Apprentice. Bethenny was a contestant on the show and placed second. Martha was apparently a lil’ too mean to poor Bethenny when she fired her. As we know from RHONY, Bethenny is a delicate flower who has never said a harsh word against anyone, and so she can definitely judge what’s too mean, or not, via BuzzFeed:
“What she said to me when she fired me was insane,” Bethenny said while recalling what happened after she made it to the show’s final round.
“She said, “Bethenny, you’re pushy, you’re a show-off and you feel the need to make a physical impression which is not entirely necessary at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.” …Oh yeah, she hated me. She hated me.”
Bethenny continues by saying that she and Martha were once at a party in St. Barts after production on the show wrapped, and Martha did not let up:
Bethenny claimed that Martha introduced her to a friend before saying, “‘This is Bethenny, she was on my show but she didn’t win, so she’s mad at me.'”
“I looked at her and said, “Martha, I’m not mad at you. You’re like someone I used to date that I’m still in love with,”” Bethenny claimed to have said. “That was that, and it was icy.”
And then, Bethenny claims that when she ran into Martha, Martha slut-shamed her over a topless scene she did in an independet movie years before.
“I see her at a restaurant and I sit down next to her and she goes, “Oh, Bethenny, I just saw your movie,”” she recalled. “The movie was from years ago… for her to say that was the sickest, sickest statement anyone’s ever said.”
“So I say back to her, “Oh really Martha? Well I just got an insider stock tip.””
As far as comebacks go, Bethenny has had better and–to use her words–much “sicker.” And apparently, even despite all this, they almost did a TV show thing together:
“We’re definitely not friends, but we almost did this TV project together despite the fact that she can’t stand me,” Bethenny said. “And I can’t really stand her either.”
“…I’ve always respected her work ethic,” Bethenny said of Martha, “and that she’s a ball-buster going for it her own way, and whether or not she’ll admit it or not, she feels the same way about me.”
So, this is so clearly a ploy from Bethenny to get attention from both society and also Martha herself. But it’s never going to happen for Bethenny. Martha already has a nemesis, and her name is Gwyneth Paltrow. When Bethenny is filming holiday commercials explicitly to troll Martha things could change, but even then, Martha would probably pull an, “I don’t know her.”
