Open Post: Hosted By The Return Of Peeps-Flavored Pepsi

Now that Valentine’s Day is over and all of the red, pink, and heart-shaped candy is on the clearance rack, it’s time for big sweets to move on to their next seasonally appropriate grift. Enter Peeps. They’re the candy corn of Easter because they’re fucking gross and are on a constant crusade to find a way for more people to ingest them by cranking out new flavors or creeping their way into harmless things like beer…and soda. Pepsi’s been a passenger on the Peeps stunt train before when they collaborated on a marshmallow-flavored version of the soft drink together back in 2021, but it was only available as a sweepstakes prize. But this year, the soda–that should’ve been named PEEPSI but the marketing execs gave up after they couldn’t get putrid Pepsi Milk to take off even with an assist from Lindsay Lohan–will hit the sales shelves, so people who love to drink beverages that taste like a damn headache can rejoice.
Pepsi announced yesterday that they teamed up with the polarizing candy to make the drink with a “pillowy-soft marshmallow cola flavor“ again, but this time it’ll be available for mass consumption, and people who choke it down even have chances to participate in a virtual scavenger hunt and win merch. via USA Today:
The brands have mashed up things before. Two years ago, Pepsi partnered with the marshmallow candy brand Peeps to make its first wave of the limited-edition Pepsi X Peeps soft drink available only via an online social media sweepstakes.
But this year, the beverage – in bright yellow cans – makes the move to retail.
“We couldn’t be more excited to reignite our partnership with Peeps, bringing two iconic brands back together after the frenzy of consumer interest in 2021,” said Katelyn Meola, Pepsi brand director, in a statement announcing the product release. “Since only a few fans were able to get their hands on the coveted cans last time, we’re thrilled to give everyone across the country the chance to indulge in Pepsi X Peeps this time around.”

The yellow packaging is giving Pee–psi. Gird your loins, Yung Miami, it’s not that kind of party! But congratulations to Pepsi and Peeps on this cursed partnership between the consistently last-place cola and the instantly stale gritty foam candy that ends up getting thrown into the trash immediately to make room for its superior spring brethren: Cadbury Crème eggs!
