Olivia Wilde Attempted To Quell Backlash She Got For Calling A$AP Rocky “Hot” In Her Instagram Story

Olivia Wilde’s been single for a quick five minutes, so if you live in the greater L.A. area and have noticed dumpsters filled to the brim with bras and the pungent scent of red wine vinegar and Grey Poupon wafting through the air, she’s probably the culprit. And since the seemingly never-ending Don’t Worry Darling chaos train reached its last stop a few months ago, she’s been devoid of her platform to burp out dumb things as often. But it seems like Olivia can never JUST NOT for too long, so she tethered her unquenchable thirst onto A$AP Rocky after a clip of him supporting his girlfriend Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance went viral. In it, Olivia tagged both A$AP and Rih and called him “hot” and said the video “put her over the edge.” Backlash over her Story ensued because A$AP’s not single, and his girlfriend had just announced they were expecting another baby during said performance, so Olivia deleted it. But of course, she fought JUST NOT and was back on her bullshit soon after by re-posting the Story, this time with the clarification that she meant it was “hot to respect your partner.

Buzzfeed News says it all started when Olivia decided to dedicate a Story to A$AP cheering on Rihanna, but only mentioned how hot she thought he was.

On Monday, the Don’t Worry Darling director reshared a viral clip, originally posted by the NFL, which shows Rihanna’s long-term boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, watching from the field as Rih closed the show with her hit “Diamonds.”

Rocky beams with pride as he enthusiastically cheers and uses his phone to film the performance. Making the clip all the more adorable, Rih had also just revealed the pair were expecting a second child together after unveiling her baby bump on stage.

Reposting the clip to her Instagram story, Olivia — who is newly single after her split from Harry Styles — described Rocky as “hot,” writing: “If I thought he was hot before, this really put me over the edge.” She notably tagged both Rihanna and Rocky in the post.

Olivia didn’t specify if it was Rocky’s gun or assault charges she found hot before this clip, but here’s her horny take on the heartwarming moment:

And the blowback was swift and severe, probably mostly due to people finding Olivia increasingly insufferable and only marginally due to the degree of cringe-factor in her Story.

Before long, fans took issue with Olivia’s comment, namely the fact that she’d decided to tag the couple, with fans accusing her of being “embarrassing” and having “no shame.”

Others felt that it was in poor taste for a public figure like Olivia to be “thirsting” over another celebrity’s partner on social media, particularly right after the announcement that they’re expecting a second child together.

Here are a few of the reactions:

Olivia took the Story down but then strolled back in and reposted it, this time adding the context that she should’ve just included the first time for “anyone who got it twisted.”

So, having clearly caught wind of the backlash, Olivia swiftly deleted the post just a number of hours after it was first uploaded. However, she soon returned to offer a clarification “for anyone who got it twisted.”

“It’s hot to respect your partner,” she wrote, setting the record straight on her appreciation for Rocky. “Especially when your partner just did thaaaaaat.”

Here’s thaaaaaat:

A$AP and Rihanna haven’t commented, I’m sure because they’re busy cackling over the perpetually try-harding Olivia’s insistence on using phrases like “vibes” and “got it twisted;” and Jason Sudeikis has probably been sitting on his hands (or underneath a car) to refrain from speaking out about Olivia’s brand of “respecting her partner.” But it’s ok; no doubt Chatty Nanny’s been on the phone with the press (and lawyers) all morning!
