Open Post: Hosted By The Internet’s Thoughts On Shania Twain’s Red-Wigged Grammy Looks

Shania Twain recently released music for the first time in five years, and taking both the wig-filled video for that single, Waking Up Dreaming, and her looks at last night’s Grammys into account, I’d venture to say she’s hit the “fun sassy wigged auntie” season of her career. She wasn’t nominated for any awards this year, but she first hit the red carpet in a red wig, white pantsuit with black polka dots, and a matching big ass hat (perfect for peeing in); then presented the award for “Best Country Album” with a red wig again and a getup that reminded a lot of people of a character from the anime Chainsaw Man.
Shania started off the night on the red carpet serving Cruella De Vil dressed as a scarecrow of Bootsy Collins realness. She has a new album and documentary to promote, so she must’ve decided to just go for it. via HuffPost:
The “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” singer strolled past crowds in a black and white dress from Harris Reed’s Spring 2023 RTW line that some say resembled a character straight out of Dr. Seuss.Twain’s look for the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles was also accessorized with bright-red hair that matched her lipstick.
And here’s Shania chatting about that “fun” look created by an up-and-coming designer:

Then Shania had a costume change before coming out to present the award for “Best Country Album” (Willy Nelson’s “A Beautiful Time” was the winner). A few likened her to the Wendy’s mascot, but many of the tweets mentioned how much she resembled the Chainsaw Man character, Makima. I don’t closely follow anime, so it was giving me “Wendy Thomas attends Hogwarts night at the cabaret,” but the Makima side-by-sides were convincing via We’ve Got This Covered:
Anime fans were quick to notice the similarity between her and Chainsaw Man’s Makima, with the online conversation ending up entirely around her resemblance. We would absolutely love for this to have been an intentional decision. It’s almost too good not to have been in reference to the hit anime.

I doubt Shania’s an anime enthusiast and knowingly sported this pretty accurate cosplay, but I have a feeling that after seeing all of the tweets, Shania might be calling up that young designer to let them know that copycat designs Don’t Impress Her Much!
