Ashton Kutcher And Reese Witherspoon Have Been Awkwardly Posing Together At Red Carpet Events For Their New Rom-Com

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher are out there promoting their new Netflix rom-com, Your Place, Or Mine (sans question mark). They play longtime bicoastal best friends who swap houses and “discover what they think they want might not be what they really need” (translation: they fall in love). Based on the trailer, it looks like the lead characters spend most of this movie 3000 miles apart, a la Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle. This means Reese and Ashton only filmed a handful of scenes together. And that might explain why the actors recently went viral for their awkward posing at the movie’s red carpet events. Based on these photos, Reese and Ashton’s real-life chemistry is firmly on the charts.

BuzzFeed describes 46-year-old Reese and 44-year-old Ashton as “visibly uncomfortable” while posing for pics at the Your Place, Or Mine premiere. And people on Twitter are unfavorably comparing their awkwardness to Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain’s over-the-top “we’re dying to fuck each other” red carpet chemistry while promoting Scenes From A Marriage in 2021:

Yes, in these pics, Reese and Ashton are giving us Avril Lavigne at a meet-and-greet. But some people defended the pair and posted other chiller pictures:

Reese and Ashton are also trying to convince us they love each other. Ashton said he’s been wanting to work with Reese for years, and Reese insisted they worked on their chemistry for a month before shooting the movie:

Unfortunately, learning the names of Reese’s dogs doesn’t guarantee scintillating onscreen chemistry. Or maybe it did for the movie, but the moment Reese heard about Ashton telling Esquire he hoped Danny Masterson was “found innocent” on those rape charges, she decided her co-star deserved the Vince Vaughn-in-Four Christmases treatment.
