Heather Gay Of “The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City” Finally Kind Of Revealed How She Got That Mysterious Black Eye

Season three of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City just ended, which means it’s reunion time, and part one of three (which is two too many) aired last night. This season’s storylines were primarily dominated by the despicable harbinger of evil, Jen Shah, pissing and moaning about being innocent of scamming thousands of people (mostly elderly) out of millions of dollars in a telemarketing scheme. By season’s end, Jen finally admitted to the courts she did that shit, and now we know she’ll be spending six and a half years in the clink. But Heather Gay was there this season, too! And she got people talking by waking up one morning on a cast trip to San Diego with a hefty shiner and scratches all over her body. Apparently, Heather is also among the people who want to know WTF happened to her eye that debaucherous night/early morning; because after months of dodging explanation, she finally admitted on last night’s RHOSLC reunion that she was blackout drunk when it happened and acted shady and aloof about it until now because her Mormon upbringing caused her to feel embarrassed about overdoing the booze to the point of losing time.

Of course, everyone wanted to know how it happened immediately, and multiple theories ensued; all while Heather vacillated between playing coy, saying she didn’t know what happened, saying everyone knows what happened, and then eventually telling people to buy her upcoming book, Bad Mormon, because maybe they’d find the answer there. And because Jen is a supreme piece of shit and she and Heather are close friends, many members of the cast and fans of the show alike theorized that Jen, who’s been aggressive before, punched Heather in the face (or maybe swung at her with a bootleg handbag) and Heather was keeping quiet to protect her. But ultimately, Heather says she was too drunk to know, and “Mormon shame” left her scared and mortified. via Page Six:

“I blacked out,” the reality star, 40, said on Part 1 of the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” reunion Wednesday. “I don’t know how it happened.”

“I woke up terrified. I had my phone plugged in, I was in pajamas,” Gay explained, adding that she was “scared” her co-stars would see it as an opportunity to “rewrite the narrative” if they knew she didn’t remember.

“When production came into my room, I told them, I said, ‘I have no idea, I have no memory,’” Gay claimed. “And then it spun out of control after that, and I take full responsibility, and I’m really sorry. It’s terrifying.”

The “Bad Mormon” author became emotional and started to cry as she explained that she felt “Mormon shame” at the “humiliating” and “terrifying” thought of blacking out and waking up with a black eye and scratches all over her.

And Heather not knowing what happened meant she also wasn’t totally able to take the heat off Jen.

Gay’s cousin and former best friend Whitney Rose – who previously denied being the source of the injury – said she thought Gay had an “accident” while she was intoxicated or that Shah “hit her.”

(Angie) Katsanevas, 48, agreed and claimed that Shah was “quiet to herself” the next day that gave her a “very dark feeling that there was something that they knew that they weren’t sharing with the rest of the group.”

Heather said the reason she called Jen first thing in the morning was that Jen’s good at making up stories (“not good enough, though,” muttered the judge in her fraud case), not necessarily because she’s the one who caused the injuries.

Gay also addressed one fan theory that Jen Shah “punched” her after drinking too much, which was fueled by the pair having a suspicious conversation the morning after the incident.

“I trusted her the most for coming up with a cover story when you blackout and you have a black eye,” Gay explained in response to why she talked to Shah, 49, first the next day.

“If I knew Jen did that, I would cover it up, but that was not my intention – I was blacked out.”

Here’s some of her confession:

Despite Andy Cohen asserting that Bravo launched an investigation, they weren’t able to fill in the blanks either. Heather should’ve just admitted she was blackout from the jump because her frustrating elusiveness transformed her from a fan favorite to just another deceitful, lying housewife who’s fallen from (already nonexistent) grace. The most shocking part of all of this for me? Learning that Heather Gay is only 40!
