Apple Martin Made Her Debut As A “Chanel Girl” At Paris Fashion Week

In the year of our Lord 2008, the late Karl Lagerfeld met 4-year-old Apple Martin, the blessed daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. At that meeting, the prophet Karl declared that, one day, the baby Apple would grow up to be a Chanel girl. Yesterday, Karl’s prediction came true. People reports that 18-year-old Apple made her Paris Fashion Week debut in head-to-toe Chanel, sitting front row of the fashion house’s haute couture show. Somewhere, deep in the rankest depths of hell, Karl weeps. “It came true! It came true!” His moment of triumph is interrupted by a smack in the head by Satan himself: “Quit crying and get back to work, bitch! This lap ain’t gonna dance on itself…”

It was fashion journalist Derek Blasberg who recounted this (allegedly) true story about Karl declaring Apple a “Chanel Girl” in the caption of an Instagram post. His Fashion Week pics show Apple in a signature Chanel black-and-white checked dress-and-blazer ensemble and her seated front row alongside Lucy Boynton and Sadie Sink. Here’s Derek’s post:

People speculates that we might see Apple make her debut at the Met Gala later this year since 2023’s theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” They add that Apple is basically already a top model/mommy doppelgänger:

Similar to her mom’s signature style, Apple wore her hair pin straight and parted in the middle. She accented her eyes with smoky, winged liner (Margot Tenenbaum vibes, anyone?) and finished the look with a rose lip.

She posed in a series of photos for Blasberg, switching her expressions between a big smile and slight pout, appearing ready for the runway.

But she totally marches to the beat of her own drum:

Apple, who once teased her health-guru mom that she has been “on a cleanse since the day she was born,” has already been known to have her own style, according to Paltrow, who shared last year that Apple “does not want my advice whatsoever on anything” when she buys clothes, though she has also stated that her daughter “borrows from [her] closet.”

So, yeah. Clearly, they’re trying to make Apple the new nepo baby du jour. Stick some labels on her, and she’s ready to go! As for this “Karl declared her a Chanel Girl” story… I have no doubt it’s true. But Karl was probably pulling that shit with every silver-spooned child of a celebrity in the mid-2000s. “Ahhh, the baby Coco Arquette. You, my darling child, will be a Chanel Girl…”
