Carole Baskin Claims That Her Ex-Husband Don Lewis Is Alive And Well In Costa Rica, But Local Authorities Say Otherwise

The name Carole Baskin immediately conjures up images of toilet paper shortages and despair since she and her equally insane Tiger King nemesis Joe Exotic will always be recognized as the real stars of the pandemic. And even years later, the story surrounding the disappearance of Carole’s first husband, Don Lewis, remains a mystery. Most people say she turned him into meow mix for her killer cats and kittens, but Carole has maintained her innocence. Late last year, Carole claimed that Don is alive and well in South America, but local authorities have dumped that claim in a kitty litter box.

According to The New York Post, around the time when the sequel Tiger King 2 premiered in 2021 (which nobody watched because we were no longer stuck at home), there was an interview that went unnoticed where Carole admitted Don isn’t dead at all. Instead, he’s been on a twenty-six-year vacation in Costa Rica, sunning his nips and watching clips of Carole on YouTube, commenting, “¡Que loca!

During a resurfaced November 2021 interview with ITV’s “This Morning” talk show, Baskin, 61, alleged that her ex, who was declared legally dead in 2002 after disappearing a few years before, was actually alive and well.

“I was not aware of it until ‘TK2’ aired,” Baskin told The Post via email, as much confusion and online debate ignited on social media. The animal rights activist alleged in the resurfaced ITV footage that the Department of Homeland Security has been in touch with her former spouse.

“One of the really exciting things that came out of ‘Tiger King 2’ is that they produced a letter from Homeland Security and it says that a special agent in charge with the FBI at Homeland Security reached out to the sheriff’s detective George [Jorge] Fernandez, which means this had to have happened after 2002 because Homeland Security wasn’t even around until 2002,” Baskin told the outlet at the time.

“They said my husband, Don Lewis, is alive and well in Costa Rica,” she revealed. “And yet all of this drama has been made about me having something to do with his disappearance when Homeland Security has known where he is.”

Carole also claimed Don took $1 million down to Costa Rica to start a new life, but she never mentioned any of this prior to the ITV interview from 2021. And today, Carole double-downed on her story that Don is alive. via People:

“This [interview] aired back in Nov. 2021 and I’ve mentioned it in the more than 60 interviews I’ve done since then, where reporters asked about Don, so I’m surprised everyone in the press is acting like they aren’t aware of it.”

“I was not aware of the Homeland Security document saying Don was alive and well in Costa Rica until [Tiger King 2] aired In Nov 2021,” Baskin’s statement continued.

Something about this doesn’t add up, but then again, Carole has always given me Debbie from Addams Family Values vibes, so I already don’t trust her ass. And according to TMZ, nobody should because even if Don is alive and well, he still has yet to be located.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office — which is in charge of Don’s missing person’s case — tells TMZ its had no communication with federal officials to suggest they’ve located Don Lewis. Obviously, the FBI would’ve shared that info, so as far as the Sheriff’s Office is concerned, nothing’s changed — Lewis is still a missing person, and the case remains a priority for HCSO.

Sounds like they’re preparing us for Tiger King Part 3, where Don rides into Carole’s house on a tiger while saying, “The cat’s out the bag now, bitch!” And that’s the kind of commitment to drama they’ll have to continue if they ever want us to watch this messy mess of a series ever again.
