Christina Applegate Checked Someone On Social Media Who Alleged Her Changed Appearance Is From Bad Plastic Surgery, Not Her Multiple Sclerosis

Christina Applegate just stepped back into the spotlight after coming to grips with her 2021 multiple sclerosis diagnosis. She powered through worsening mobility to finish shooting her Netflix show, Dead To Me and accepted her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with the help of her family and friends. So, it was probably already a challenge for her to attend this year’s Critics Choice Awards, where she was nominated for “best actress in a comedy series” due to her physical limitations. And it surely didn’t help that some trolls (who themselves probably look like stank bags of milk by choice and without disease as an excuse) commented on her appearance after pictures of her at the event hit social media. So, Christina engaged with one of them via DM and shared the interaction on Twitter.

People published a story a few days ago about Christina attending the CCAs with her 11-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble. Before the event, Christina tweeted about how nervous she was to attend her first awards show since revealing her diagnosis:

And here’s Christina showing off her special manicure for the show, as well as a pic of her with Sadie on the red carpet:

And then, apparently, the sight of a woman who’s already acknowledged that she looks different than how people remember her due to her debilitating disease was enough to spur some pissed-off Patricia to show her whole ass in the comment section and say that Christina just had some bad plastic surgery. Christina made the mistake of checking the comments and saw it and decided to tell off that particular troll–who responded in disbelief that it was really Christina who messaged her and even doubled down on her plastic surgery accusation. So Christina tweeted a screenshot. via People:

The Dead to Me actress, 51, said she reached out to someone on social media who commented on a recent PEOPLE article about her and her daughter at the Critics Choice Awards and received a startling message in response.

”Sooooo I made the unfortunate decision to look at some comments on an article from people mag about me and my kids at the CCA,” Applegate tweeted. “Of course I told her that it wasn’t nice. This was her reply.”

Alongside the tweet, she shared a screenshot of the messages that the person appeared to send, which read, “MS didn’t make you look that way a plastic surgeon did. And you are a scammer and are not [Christina] Applegate.” A second message read, “And a bad plastic surgeon at that.”

“What is wrong with people. By the way, I laughed,” Applegate continued in her response.

Here’s Christina’s screenshot:

I’m obviously not opposed to an old-fashioned celebrity dragging when they deserve it, but not when it’s someone as beloved and undeserving as Christina who’s fighting like hell to live with this dick of a disease AFTER already beating breast cancer. Christina may not have won that CCA (Jean Smart took their category for her performance in Hacks), but she won this battle. Good on her for paying attention to Al Bundy’s lecture to Bud about seeking revenge!
