Miley Cyrus Dropped “Flowers,” Her New Song About Self Love, On Liam Hemsworth’s Birthday

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard new music from Miley Cyrus, and I think the world was fine with that. However, since she’s a singer, she felt the need to entice the world with her twenty-packs-of-Newports voice on a new song titled Flowers. This time she’s keeping it cute and contemplative as she rings in the new year by talking about loving herself more than any man ever could. And by any man, she probably means her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, because not only is the video a wonderful teaser trailer if she decides to create an OnylFans page, but it also speaks to the new era in her life where self-love is the most important thing.

Pop Crush reports Miley is singing at the bottom of her lungs about wanting to love herself more but is that because Liam couldn’t? She’s already let us know they should have never entered into their unholy union, but since it ended so long ago, does anyone even care? Apparently, Miley does. And whether or not this swan song is the final nail in the coffin of their zombie love, she did choose to release Flowers today, on Liam’s 33rd birthday.

Cyrus’ new disco-infused pop-rock breakup track, released in the U.S. Thursday night (Jan. 12), finds the singer leaning into self-love as she lets go of a former flame that fizzled out.

In the “Flowers” music video, Cyrus engages in some empowering self-care, from taking a long, steamy shower to working out and dancing joyfully, solo, around her home.

And this video? I wasn’t sure if I was watching visuals for a new Miley track or a trailer for a reboot of The Long Kiss Goodnight. Either way, she definitely cut down on costs by shooting everything in one location and not having to pay for any extras.

Who doesn’t walk home in a gold foreskin hood at dawn and keep the party going with a dip in the pool and a lingerie workout before dancing into the night? It’s like a PSA on the dangers of mixing Red Bull and coke. The title of the track could also be seen as somewhat of a dig against Liam since a few years ago, he may have dedicated the Bruno Mars track When I Was Your Man to her, hence the opening line of the chorus, “I can buy my own flowers BITCH!” Well, that’s not exactly how it goes. But perhaps for the remix with Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, it will get just a little rawer than the original.
