Cardi B Responds To People Who Say She Has No Right To Complain About The Rising Price Of Groceries Because She’s Rich

Long gone are the days when you could go to the grocery store and purchase eggs and bacon without it costing $150. And these overly inflated prices aren’t just affecting those of us surviving on ramen and crumbs shook from the toaster. The high prices are also eating away at the rich, summoning constant champion of complaining Cardi B to inform us she, too, is one of the people. Well, not really, since “the people” aren’t worth tens of millions of dollars, but according to Cardi, that’s almost as much as what it costs to feed her family, and she thinks it’s absolutely ridiculous. But of course, Twitter isn’t here for her whining, so she responded in true Cardi fashion.

Complex reports Cardi understands there’s no longer such a thing as low grocery bills, and it’s cutting into her nail and booty injection budget BIG TIME. She grabbed her bullhorn and pulled up to her favorite lectern, Twitter, to express her disappointment with the rising costs of food.

Just $6, Cardi? Please tell me where you live so I can get in on the discounts because it’s $6.75 where I live. And that ain’t the price for the fresh lettuce either. Still, she seemed shocked that the price of food has skyrocketed as much as it has in such a short amount of time.

Suddenly the time-honored tradition of rebuking everything Cardi has to say began its inaugural run for the new year with people slapping away at her tirade with tidings of “Girl BYE!” and “Whatever rich lady” because no one believes Cardi has a problem paying for anything at all.

In response, Cardi posted a video she titled PSA, but it should have been titled PSTFU since she’s basically telling everyone to please shut the fuck up! Because her concerns aren’t necessarily about her. She’s speaking out on behalf of the people who can hardly afford these prices since she has the platform to do so.

“Let me tell you something, when I be complaining about food prices and y’all motherfuckers be like, ‘Ain’t you rich? Why you complaining about lettuce, why you complaining about this?’” she said. “That just goes to show me when you become successful, when you have money, you’re gonna fucking-, you’re gonna go broke soon because you’re not budgeting.”

“I went to a supermarket, I’m seeing that everything tripled up,” she said, noting lettuce could cost her upwards of $7 despite costing “like $2 a couple months ago.” She called the situation “crazy,” and she felt she had to say something because she “can only image what middle class people or people in the hood are motherfucking thinking.”

I’m not mad at her speaking on behalf of the working poor all across the land because most rich folks are looking at their grocery bills and saying, “What inflation? These are GREAT prices!” So Thank You for this PSA. And extra kudos for staging it in the style of someone living in their car because if these prices don’t drop soon, that will be a reality for many of us.
