A California Jury Found Harvey Weinstein Guilty On Three Charges Of Sexual Assault

The sequel to Harvey Weinstein’s own personal #MeToo movement, #WaitMeAgain?, premiered on Monday when Harvey was found guilty on three charges of rape and sexual assault in a Los Angeles courtroom where he was on what they call in the business, a trial vacation. In the summer of 2021, Harvey was compelled to travel from his jail cell in New York, where has been serving 23 years for rape and sexual assault in that state, to a jail cell in California to stand trial against seven charges of sexual assault. While the accommodations offered to him during his stay in California may not have been what he would have chosen, they were comped through the government’s Frequent Felon program, so take any reviews he may have left on AirBnA.gov with a grain of salt.

Harvey was only found guilty of three of the seven charges he was facing against four different accusers, one of whom is California Governor Gavin Newsom’s current partner, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Only one of his accusers received justice, but at least the others know that while Harvey may be returning to New York as a registered guest of the state of California, he’s free to check out anytime he likes, but still, he can never leave the state of eternal incarceration. According to CNN:

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was found guilty Monday of rape and sexual assault against one of four women he was accused of assaulting in Los Angeles – a significant conviction in the second trial of a man at the center of allegations that fueled the global #MeToo movement.

Weinstein, who prosecutors said used his Hollywood influence to lure women into private meetings and assault them, was found guilty of three of seven charges against him.

After weeks of emotional testimony and 10 days of deliberations, jurors in Los Angeles also acquitted Weinstein of one count of sexual battery by restraint against a massage therapist in a hotel room in 2010. They were a hung jury on one count of sexual battery by restraint, one count of forcible oral copulation and one count of rape related to two other women – including Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a filmmaker and first partner to California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The three charges Weinstein was convicted of – rape, sexual penetration by foreign object and forcible oral copulation – were all tied to one of his accusers, a model and actress who testified the movie mogul assaulted her in a Beverly Hills hotel room in February 2013.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe 1 in court, was the first to testify in the trial.

“Harvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013. I will never get that back. The criminal trial was brutal. Weinstein’s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand. But I knew I had to see this through the end, and I did… I hope Harvey Weinstein never sees the outside of a prison cell during his lifetime,” Jane Doe 1 said in a statement released through her attorney.

Weinstein had pleaded not guilty to all seven charges against him.

Harvey faces having a 24-year California “endless summer” booked for him at sentencing that he can use anytime after he finishes his tour of every single corner of his New York prison cell. Sadly, it’s non-transferable, so it will probably go to waste. Harvey also has an exciting opportunity to visit the iconic Old Bailey in jolly old England, where he has been charged two counts of indecent assault. And to think people say his career is toast. Pah! Harvey stays booked and busy! Get used to it people; Harvey’s not going anywhere (without a police escort)!
