Open Post: Hosted By The Arizona Driver Who Got A Ticket For Trying To Drive In The Carpool Lane With An Inflatable Grinch Passenger

‘Tis the point of the holiday season where people start losing their gat damn minds as they race around town trying to track down the best sale on prime rib or get their hands on that ridiculous “Little Live Pets Mama Surprise Guinea Pig” that will be the only thing to shut their kid up on Christmas morning. So it’s unremarkable that people sometimes try to cut corners where they can when it comes to the holiday hustle and bustle. But one Arizona driver decided to break the rules, but ~make it festive~ when they cruised the carpool lane with an inflatable Grinch as their sole passenger. They got busted, though, and ended up with a ticket and a feature on The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Twitter.

The Huffington Post says that the Arizona Department of Public Safety posted a reminder about the proper use of the HOV lane and shared a picture of the failed Grinch stunt. The state trooper who pulled the car over was amused but not amused enough to skip citing the driver for the violation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a state trooper last week noticed a car in a high-occupancy vehicle lane on Interstate 10 in Phoenix with a “Seusspicious-looking” green passenger.

While the gag may have caused the officer’s heart to grow, it did not stop the driver from getting cited for being in the HOV lane during a restricted time.

Officials say they appreciate the “festive flair” but that the driver’s action was still illegal. They are urging motorists to follow traffic laws.

Here are the Arizona DPS’s tweets:

If this driver wanted to be convincing yet still festive, the obvious choice here would’ve been to purchase a realistic seat-filling sex doll and toss a Santa hat on it. And if a sex doll isn’t in the budget, Surely Arizona’s golden daughter, Meghan “My Father, John McCain” McCain, has the time and would probably work for much less.
