Britney Spears Claims She Mistakenly Deleted Her Instagram And She Smeared Cake On Her Face In A Birthday Video

Britney Spears is once again causing a stir online. Fans are already wondering if something’s up after she shared a touching Instagram tribute to her sister Jamie Lynn Spears instead of ranting about familial betrayal. After posting a series of pictures and videos on her birthday last week, Britney’s Instagram mysteriously went dark (for the 12,987th time this year) and was deactivated this past Tuesday. A few days later, though, the account rose from the dead, and she was back to give us more twirls! However, her abrupt disappearance added fuel to the rumor that her account is being controlled by someone else. To calm the stans, Britney shared a message to explain the deactivation and also to ram a cake in her mouth while dancing.

Britney Spears made her return to Instagram on Friday by posting an “awkward” video where she ate cake off the floor and flipped off her 41 million followers.

After deactivating her account on Tuesday — which she has done multiple times before — the 41-year-old said she “accidentally pressed [the] wrong button.”

“Yep it’s my b-day all week and I know my Instagram has been down a few times but honestly I did the last two times myself !” the songstress captioned the strange video.

The Grammy-winning singer went on to say that her “goals” this year are to become more “comfortable” around people, crash a wedding and “sing a song or two.”

“It’s my first year in 15 years being treated as an equal and good God I didn’t know about this NO RULE THING !!! Pssss this video is so blurry sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️ !!! Is it a little awkward or weird to watch ??? DUH 🙄 that’s the whole point💄💄💄 !!!”

In the clip set to “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt, the “Toxic” singer celebrated her birthday by drinking a bottle of champagne on her living room floor decorated with balloons and rose petals.

Ah, so THAT cleared things up?! I understand that Britney would want to explain her motivations, but her messages only serve to make things more confusing. Why the smearing of cake? Why the middle finger? Why do this to Eartha Kitt?! According to Entertainment Tonight, before Britney gave us this show, her husband Sam Asghari took to Instagram Stories to offer up a slightly different explanation as to why she disappeared.

“Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it’s good to take a break,” Asghari wrote in a series of posts shared to his Instagram Stories. “She has her voice and is a free woman.”

Asghari also addressed the reason he hasn’t shared very many photos of Spears in recent months, writing, “I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times… Out of respect for her privacy, I don’t post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do.”

Social media is certainly traumatizing (no one needs to see Elon Musk cringe tweets), so I’m all for Brit Brit stepping away from Instagram and saving videos of her spins and gyrations on the phone. Hopefully, she takes a legitimate break soon so she can stuff her face in cake like we all dream of doing in peace!
