After Anne Heche died in a car wreck back in August, it was speculated at the time she may have been under the influence of controlled substances. But now a new report reveals Anne wasn’t intoxicated. She may have had traces of the bad shit in her system from prior nights of partying, but as far as it contributed to the fatal car wreck, the coroner’s report determined that wasn’t the case.
Anne’s death definitely came as a shock to many since the last time she popped up was while playing the I Don’t Know Her game with ex-girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres. And after discovering just how mean the Queen of Bad Dancing was towards her staff, it makes sense why Anne ditched her (eventually, we all would follow suit). Shortly after Anne’s tragic death, there were reports that she was under the influence of coke and possibly fentanyl during the crash. But according to People, the coroner’s report following her death proves that Anne was not under the influence at the time of the crash. Now, she may have been under the influence previously, which showed up in her blood work, but she wasn’t when it happened.
The actress was not impaired by drugs at the time of her devastating car crash on Aug. 5, according to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, which was obtained by PEOPLE.
Tests did show, however, that Heche, 53, had used both cocaine and cannabis previously.
“The hospital admission blood showed the presence of benzoylecgonine, the inactive metabolite of cocaine, which means she used in the past but not at the time of the crash,” a spokesperson for the coroner’s confirmed to PEOPLE.
Anne also had traces of cannabinoids in her urine at the time of her hospital admission, but that also did not contribute to the crash. So that has to be a relief for her family, at least, because it’s still a sad situation all around. But unfortunately, somewhere in the world, her other ex Thomas Jane is reading this news and thinking to himself, “Cool. But she still owes me money.”
