Nancy Meyers Denies Reports That There’s Going To Be A Sequel To “The Holiday”

This morning, The Sun reported that there was going to be a sequel to The Holiday (2006), and all the main cast members had signed on to reprise their roles including Kate Winslet, the semi-retired Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Jude Law (aka Britain’s answer to Nick Cannon). But before rom-com fans could celebrate, that no-good Grinch Nancy Meyers took to Instagram to ruin the fun. 72-year-old Nancy, who wrote and directed the original movie, added this caption to a screenshot of the “news” story: “So many DM’s about this – sorry but it’s not true.” Then she limited Instagram comments, probably because she was getting death threats from horny Jack Black fans. They call themselves “Jackers,” and they’re TERRIFYING.

Here’s Nancy’s post:

In The Sun’s original story, a source claimed that filming for this bullshit sequel would start next year, and “the main talent are all signed up.” The proven liar added:

“It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit those characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up.

“It’ll be funny, poignant, and heartwarming – just what everyone wants for Christmas.”

OK, liar, don’t tell me what I want for Christmas. For all you know, I want a boring, shallow, heart-freezing film just in time for the holidays. And if that were the case, I would be jonesin’ for a follow-up to the 2008 Reese Witherspoon/Vince Vaughn stinker, Four Christmases. Boy, did that movie suck. Four Christmases too many!

Honestly, I always found The Holiday a little hokey, so I’m not particularly bummed about this no-sequel news. But I know two people who will be… Lindsay Lohan and James Franco, who were hoping to reprise their cameo roles to help with their big Hollywood comebacks:

Lohanaissance > Franconaissance.
