Prince William And Princess Kate Sat Courtside At A Boston Celtics Game Last Night, And They Were Booed

Prince William and Princess Kate’s Caribbean tour earlier this year went over about as well as a Black woman who isn’t a first-generation African immigrant existing in Lady Hussey’s presence–which is not well at all–so as we know, they decided to take a working trip to somewhere known to be FAR more friendly and welcoming: Boston. Kate and William are in the city to attend the Earthshot Prize Awards and decided to go on a field trip to a Boston Celtics game where they sat courtside; because where else can you see Bostonians at their very dignified best than at one of their professional teams’ sporting events? But some Bostonians weren’t amused and welcomed the royals with boos and chants of “USA!”

According to People, Will and Kate decided to take a break from whatever it is that their job entails to spend the first night of their three-night Beantown trip watching the Cs play. And judging from that picture above, it looks like “The Prince of Pegging” spent a portion of the game checking out some of the players’ back passages while pondering if they also enjoy a good bugger from their wives’ friends every now and again; and Kate smiled, clapped, and pretended to enjoy herself while having shiny hair, which might as well be her official job description.

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance on Wednesday night at the TD Garden to watch the Boston Celtics take on the Miami Heat.

The famously sporty couple sat courtside with former professional basketball player and Massachusetts Governor-Elect Maura Healey, Celtics legend Thomas “Satch” Sanders, and the team’s two principal owners and their wives. Kate and William chatted with those seated next to them and clapped enthusiastically throughout the game, which the Celtics won.

And when William and Kate made an appearance on the Jumbotron, some fans showered them with boos and patriotic chants:

But at least it seems like at least the Celts game was a much better Irish experience than when Kate went to Northern Ireland and got a mouthful from a heckler.

During the basketball game, there were moments nodding to the arrival of Earthshot in the city. During the Celtics’ tradition of recognizing a “Hero Among Us” during each game, they honored a local 15-year-old climate activist for their work positively impacting the community. During a break in the game, William and Kate stood up to chat with the teen.

The couple also met members of the Celtics family, including representatives of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, which provides grassroots programming and strategic funding to local organizations serving at-risk populations. They also heard about the “Curbside Care” mobile unit, which through a partnership with Boston Medical Center will provide comprehensive, streamlined care to mothers and infants in the first six weeks of life right at patient doorsteps — an issue of importance to Kate.

Will and Kate posted about the game on their Instagram and Twitter:

The Celts posted about the royals being there as well, and the comment sections were peak Boston:

Luckily, the Celtics beat The Heat, or Will would’ve had to squeegee baked beans off of his shiny dome while Kate wrung the Samuel Adams Lager from her blazer; because surely if Boston had lost it would have been the fault of those dirty colonizahs. A Celtics game was a nice attempt at seeing all that Boston has to offer, but if they want the full cultural experience, they need to meet up with Boston’s golden boy, Ben Affleck, for a Mahlboro and Dunks run.
