Naomi Biden’s Wedding Was Covered By Vogue, And The White House Press Corps Is Pissed
On Saturday, Naomi Biden, aka Joe Biden’s granddaughter/Hunter Biden’s daughter, got married to her partner of 3 years, 25-year-old Peter Neal. The couple wed at the White House. Since 1800, only nineteen weddings and four receptions have been held there. 28-year-old Naomi’s wedding was covered by Vogue, because they love to profile wealthy nepo-babies (see: Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, that Getty heiress, and Lena Dunham). The pics are pretty, but not everybody is pleased. Gawker reports that the White House Press Corps and other journalists are annoyed they weren’t invited, but Vogue was. SNUB!
Here’s what happened. The day before the wedding, White House Press Secretary Karinne Jean-Pierre announced that reporters were banned because the Bidens wanted to keep things private. “It’s a family event.” On Saturday, temporary fencing was erected around the park that separates the White House from the Washington Monument, so nosy types couldn’t peek in and watch the ceremony. But then, today, the Vogue pics and article dropped. Some reporters got pissed and accused the Bidens of lying about the wedding being private:
White House press secretary Karine Jeanne-Pierre on Nov. 18: "They have decided to make this wedding private. It is a family event. It is — and we are going to respect Naomi and Peter's wishes." https://t.co/zOI2HOOqr1

TO BE CLEAR: Not all lies are created equal and the magnitude, frequency and audacity is certainly different. But the Biden WH, for ex, has also waived us off correct reporting about Biden's SCOTUS pick, his Egypt trip, attendees in private meetings, etc. https://t.co/8eLW1BMTcZ

One reporter, Katie Rogers, claimed that the Bidens actually staged the wedding for Vogue before the actual wedding day, so, technically, they didn’t lie. Vogue confirms this in their article, writing that they did a pre-wedding shoot last Thursday:
I had reporting in Oct about Vogue being tapped to cover this and I was waved off. Official explanation is that Vogue wasn’t there the day of. Loophole = the family staged a “wedding at the WH” shoot beforehand.
“Private” per @PressSec = not for the White House press corps. https://t.co/TbiuNpR1qV

Um, OK. So these reporters, like, really really really wanted to go to Naomi Biden’s wedding. Well, I’m sorry, but Naomi and Peter only invited 250 friends and family members. The White House Press Corps should’ve tried to get in good with the couple beforehand if they were that desperate. Hint: money goes a long way.
On her wedding day, Naomi wore a high-neck, long-sleeved Chantilly lace Ralph Lauren dress and walked down the aisle with her parents to string quartet playing the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” (what in the Bridgeton?). Naomi tells Vogue she’s always been super close to her grandpa, aka the President, and she “always knew we’d get married in someone’s backyard.” Joe’s backyard just so happens to be the White House grounds:
“There’s just such beauty and history in this place, and we really wanted to honor that,” says Naomi, who drew inspiration from the vintage issues of Time—purchased on eBay by Peter for his bride-to-be—featuring past White House weddings, such as Tricia’s and those of Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughters, Luci and Lynda (in 1966 and ’67). Of course, getting married at the first residence can also provide challenges: “It’s hard to ask people for their social security number with their RSVP,” deadpans Naomi.
Here are some of Vogue’s wedding pics and a video.
Hopefully, this latest Biden marriage lasts longer than former Real Housewife of Orange County star Meghan King’s short-lived union to Joe’s nephew, Cuffe Biden Owens. Meghan and Cuffe only made it to two months. I think Naomi and Peter can do better than that! But if/when they do decide to call it quits, the couple better give the White House Press Corps a front-row seat at the divorce proceedings. Or their self-esteem will be completely destroyed.
