Britney Spears Recounted Her Reaction To Finding Out About Her Niece’s 2017 ATV Accident

Since we know that Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, Maddie Aldridge, ended up making a full recovery and all is well now, it’s ok to say that letting an 8-year-old drive an ATV is one of the most characteristically yeehaw Spears Family activities if I’ve ever heard of one. But according to recent tweets that Britney Spears has since deleted, the 2017 accident came as a complete shock. It caused her to “lose her mind” when she alleges her family allowed her to mistakenly think that Maddie (now 14) had died, though she eventually did learn the truth of the situation and ask for prayers for her niece’s healing. Britney retold the story yesterday in an attempt to reiterate the many ways in which all of the members of her family have mistreated her.

The Daily Mail says that Britney abandoned her usual platform, Instagram, last night and instead took to Twitter (probably for old times’ sake before it’s obsolete) to talk about her parents’ and siblings’ unfair and cruel treatment of her. In the midst of that, Britney recalled how traumatic and emotional Maddie’s serious accident six years ago was…for Britney.

Britney Spears opened up on Twitter Thursday about the trauma she experienced in mistakenly thinking her niece Maddie had died in the wake of her February 2017 ATV accident in Kentwood, Louisiana.

In the incident, Maddie was riding an ATV near a pond on the family’s Louisiana property when she tried to steer away from a drainage ditch. According to a police report, she ‘overcorrected’ and ended up in the pond – still secured by her seatbelt and trapped to the ATV. Her parents tried to get her out, though she was ultimately freed by EMTs and brought to the hospital in stable but critical condition.

The …Baby One More Time artist opened up about the emotional meltdown she had in the wake of hearing the dreadful news about her niece, then eight.

‘The day Maddie, my niece was in that horrible accident with my mom was on the phone … she said Jamie Lynn said something happened … SILENCE … SILENCE … SILENCE !!!’ said the Grammy-winning singer, 40, who has 56 million followers on the platform. ‘She wouldn’t tell me … then she said it … she stopped breathing … we lost her!!!’

Britney, whose sons have said throughout their strained relationship with her that she makes them uncomfortable, began throwing shit while in the room with them upon learning the news; so her brother escorted them elsewhere.

‘My mind was completely and absolutely gone … I lost my mind at that moment and I started throwing things!!!’ Spears said, noting that her brother Bryan [Spears] chastised her in the moment.

Spears said, ‘The reason I bring this up is that the only thing my brother said was “Control yourself, I’m taking the children to the guest house you are not safe to be around them” … so he did!!! I stood there crying!!!’

The Oops!… I Did It Again vocalist continued: ‘Death is a mystery … We don’t understand it… My mind couldn’t process it,’ adding that in that moment, all she ‘wanted to say’ was to curse the name of God.

The Toxic artist said things thankfully turned around when ‘minutes later Maddie opened her eyes… She could see!!!

I do see Britney’s point that her family should’ve been more forthcoming with her about the situation and done a better job of lending emotional support in the wake of that horrible news. Still, in their defense, it’s probably nearly impossible to hug someone who won’t stop twirling!
