Candace Cameron Bure Says Her New Network Great American Family Won’t Feature Same-Sex Couples In Holiday Movies, And Hilarie Burton Drags Her For It

Who would have thought Candace Cameron Bure, the artist formerly known as DJ Tanner, would grow up to be such an unlikeable human being? JoJo Siwa knows it. But the one person who is putting on the Cape of Good Faith to really call her out is Hilarie Burton. Once again, Candace has grabbed her cross and flask of Holy Water to swing and spew more religious tropes about her new network Great American Family being the place where only God-lovers can enjoy wholesome sin-free content! And in doing so, Hilarie grabbed her ally sword to slice Candace’s trite rhetoric to shreds once and for all.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal (via TV Insider), the Clearance Rack Christmas Queen made sure to let everyone know she still ain’t with that gay shit. It’s been a decade since she clutched her pearls and ran away from Hallmark’s mission of diversity and inclusion for sanctuary at former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott‘s network where men don’t kiss other men (except behind closed doors but SHHH!). Instead, she wants to focus on traditional family values and relayed that she believes none of the movies premiering on Great American Christmas Family will ever star a gay couple.
“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” Bure said of her decision to join the network, which is owned by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott. “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”
Next month, Hallmark debuts The Holiday Sitter, its first original holiday movie focused on a same-sex couple. When asked if she expects her new channel to feature LGBTQ+ couples as leads in holiday movies, according to the WSJ, Bure said no. “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” she stated.
Bill Abbott also chimed in with a vague response by adding, “It’s certainly the year 2022, so we’re aware of the trends. There’s no whiteboard that says, ‘Yes, this’ or ‘No, we’ll never go here.‘.”
And well, Hilarie Burton was more than ready to strap up her platforms to kick both Candace and Bill in the chest, leaving traces of glitter that spell out “Love Is Love Bitch!” once the dust settled.
Bigot.
I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy.
But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank. https://t.co/X70aO4WIcB— Hilarie Burton Morgan (@HilarieBurton) November 15, 2022
Hilarie had a few choice words for Bill Abbott too:
Now they’re just openly admitting their bigotry.
I called this shit out years ago when Abbott was at Hallmark. Glad they dumped him.
Being LGBTQ isn’t a “trend”.
That guy and his network are disgusting. You too Candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples. https://t.co/38XIg5XeMP— Hilarie Burton Morgan (@HilarieBurton) November 14, 2022
Well, I’m not sure many gay people want to see anything with Candace Cameron Bure in it, so the feeling is mutual. And as far as GAF goes, they should change their name to IDGAF since they obviously don’t give a fuck about people watching their holiday movies.
