Johnny Depp’s Special Guest Appearance In Rihanna’s “Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 4” Happened

Last week Rihanna threatened us with a disappointing time when we heard that Johnny Depp filmed a cameo in her Savage x Fenty Vol. 4 fashion show. Well, the show’s now streaming on Prime Video, and visually, I would describe it as Saturday Night Live Stefon’s wet dream. This show has everything: musical guests I’ve never heard of, a human cyclone, and a CGI-ed to the gods Johnny Depp loving on trees while making his best sexyface.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna really put her billions to work to compensate the graphic artists who were tasked with constructing someone resembling a 2010 Johnny in a boring 40-second runway walk from one tree to another in pieces from the  Savage x Fenty men’s collection as a song that is the absolute antithesis of who he is as a human being–Outkast’s So Fresh and So Clean— played. Johnny was the first male to ever grab this “star moment” in one of Rihanna’s shows

For his 40-second cameo in the special, Depp is seen leaning on a tree, wearing several necklaces that he pairs with a trench coat and matching shirt. He then saunters over to another tree, sometimes in slow motion, and only breaks eye contact with the camera to take notice of the dancers. When he gets to his next tree, he lightly hugs it.

For reference, here’s what current-day Johnny looks like in the real world:

And here’s his Savage x Fenty appearance:

Video appearances seem to be Johnny’s bread and butter now because, as we know, he also made a brief cameo as a moon person at this year’s MTV VMAs–where he joked that he needed the work; presumably because of his train wreck trials.

The actor’s appearance in the fashion show comes a little over a month after he made a cameo as a Moon Person at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. In a pre-recorded video, he appeared when a full-sized astronaut descended from the rafters, and the black face cover pulled back to reveal Depp’s face.

“Hey, you know what? I needed the work,” Depp intoned before the show kicked off in earnest.

Rihanna’s choice to feature an alleged abuser in a featured spot in her show baffled many since she herself was the victim of intimate partner violence at the hands of Chris Brown years ago, but nothing makes sense anymore. I guess it’s at least promising that (someone who looked like a downright hologram of) Johnny was caressing trees in this short spot; perhaps becoming a dendrosexual is a better route for him (and all of womankind) than putting the moves on his attorneys or anyone else who’s turned on by bloated winebags who undoubtedly have “so stale and so dirty dirty” breath and a bed full of feces.
