Open Post: Hosted By Ina Garten’s Husband, Jeffrey, Accidentally Sending A Love Text To Someone Who Wasn’t Her

If you’ve ever seen Ina Garten’s cooking show, Barefoot Contessa, you probably gathered that she loves two things: using the hardest-to-find, most pretentious ingredients in her recipes and her husband of over 50 years, Jeffrey Garten. Jeffrey was a fixture on the show; most of the time, Ina was cooking for him or for an occasion centered around him, which was likely her chosen method of foreplay since it’s clear that the two of them like to get it in. Apparently, Jeffrey’s approach to getting Ina as moist as her famous roast chicken is with his words; and if you can’t deliver Ina a heartfelt letter using handmade heavyweight ylang-ylang scented stationary with a seal made from the wax of Madagascan bees, a cringey sexual boomer text sent to the wrong person is fine.

According to People, Ina’s on an upcoming episode of The Drew Barrymore show and shared the tale of when Jeffrey sent a horny text referencing his salacious plans for them when he arrived home. One issue: he didn’t send it to Ina; he sent it to her publicist.

The adorable pair, who wed in 1968, have shared stories about how they kept in touch via letters during Jeffrey’s time in the army. Barrymore referenced this when chatting with Ina and asked, “He doesn’t send letters now, but is it true that he sends you love texts?”

“He does,” said the Barefoot Contessa star on the episode airing Nov. 21. “And sometimes they go astray.”

When Barrymore asks for clarification, Ina continued, “He sends them to the wrong person.”

“And what perchance do they say?” asked Barrymore.

Ina didn’t hold back when sharing the details. “My dear friend, who’s also my publicist, he sent a text to her, and he meant it for me, and he said, ‘You’re gonna be delicious tonight,’ and it went to her,” the celebrity chef laughed. “She was like, ‘Woah.’ She sent back, ‘I don’t think this was meant for me.'”

“Did she turn like bright red?” Barrymore asked but the Be My Guest host replied that she wasn’t there but “imagined so.”

The couple will celebrate their 54th anniversary next month. Here’s a throwback of Ina and Jeffrey when he still had to shoot his shot via telegraph:

Ina has a new show out called Be My Guest, where she exchanges recipes and stories with her celebrity guests. I can’t wait for the episode where Jeffrey reveals that his “you’re gonna be delicious tonight” text was actually meant for the clandestine box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese he’d hidden in the garden shed in anticipation of devouring it once Ina’s passed out from slugging her third gallon-sized cosmo.
