David Foster Does Not Regret Welcoming A Newborn Into His Life At 71

Music mogul, David Foster, is 72 years old, but that baby-batter still rises (sorry); he managed to get his wife, 38-year-old Katharine McPhee, pregnant, and they have an almost two-year-old son named Rennie. When Rennie graduates high school, David will be nearing 90, but if you think David has any regrets about that, you are kidding yourself! David has no regrets and is excited to be a dad in his 70s for the sixth time to a newborn. But I think David is just happy that the baby didn’t ruin Katharine’s body, and she bounced back as he hoped.

David and Katharine actually met way back in 2006 when she was a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, and he was a mentor. After all these years, they stayed friends, and then, eleven years later, the two were romantically linked in 2017 and debuted their love at the Met Gala in 2018. David proposed to Katharine the same year, and in June 2019, they got hitched. It was David’s fifth marriage; he also has five children from his first four marriages and they are: Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Sara, 41, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36.

David and Katharine are promoting the Christmas album they did together, and spoke to People about it, and of course, they talked about their baby together, via Page Six:

…While having a baby at this stage of his life was “not something” he thought was going to happen, he told People he hasn’t “regretted a single day of it.”

“I’ve loved every single day,” Foster told the outlet in a joint interview with McPhee, 38, published Thursday.

“It’s the standard thing of like, “Oh, well, you were so young when you had your children, and you were working day and night, you never saw them.” And there is some truth to that, sadly, for my [older] kids. I was just working a lot. Even though I’m working a lot now, I’ll cancel anything just to hang with him. It’s just different.”

Katharine says that she was really hoping to have a baby with David but knew there were “no guarantees.” AKA: that old dick might not shoot the same. But alas! God seems intent on not letting vaginas rest! They talk some more about the age gap:

With a 34-year age gap, Foster and McPhee “know [they’re] an unconventional couple” but feel that what they have just works.

For Foster’s part, he recalled noticing the “big age difference” between Céline Dion and her late husband, René Angélil, when he first began working with the musicians. But after a while, it “just looked and felt normal.”

“I think we’re over that hump now with five years of being together,” he said, “and hopefully people just start looking like we belong together because we feel like we do.”

McPhee added, “Even if they don’t, we don’t care. We just love our history, how we met and where we are now. Sometimes we look at each other like, “This is so wild that we’re together.””

I’m sure that David is actually very happy and he’s so excited to be a father and he doesn’t regret a thing! And I’m also sure that in five years when he’s married to a different 30-year-old and he’s a fresh 77, he’ll be even happier with that newborn!
