Andy Cohen Apologizes To Garcelle Beauvais For Steamrolling Her Emotions During The “Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” Reunion

The ten thousand-part reunion for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is still chugging along, and the last part will finally air tomorrow, but a funny thing has happened. Andy Cohen has actually apologized to Garcelle Beauvais over a moment during the reunion when she was fraught with emotion, and he just moved on to talk to Lisa Rinna about lunch. No, Andy didn’t apologize on his own. He apologized after there was a backlash. More microaggressions from Andy Cohen that NeNe Leakes can use if she reopens her lawsuit against Bravo? We’ll see!

During last week’s reunion episode, Lisa Rinna revealed that a picture of Garcelle Beauvais’ book, Love Me As I Am, in the trash was actually her doing and not Erika Jayne’s as was previously assumed. Erika posted the photo to Instagram, explaining she did so because of an unflattering clip of Erika from the show that Garcelle used to promote the book. Lisa’s beef with Garcelle stemmed from Garcelle talking about her daughter, Amelia Hamlin, in the book in a bad way, via UsWeekly:

“I have to be honest–I’m the one that tossed Garcelle’s book in the trash… Garcelle and I had a handshake agreement the kids were off-limits. And so, about a year and a half later, she put my daughter Amelia in her book in not a positive light, in a negative light. And that’s what I did.”

“I said, “What can we do? It’s a week before the book actually comes out, what can we do?”” Beauvais recalled. “And so we all came up with a second edition of the book, we will take it out as well as the audio and that’s what we did.”

After the exchange, Garcelle was clearly upset, but rather than talk about it or show any acknowledgment of the situation, Andy started joking about Lisa’s recycling bin.

So, obviously, people watching–and especially Black women–quickly hopped online to call Andy out for completely disregarding the emotional well-being of the only Black housewife on Beverly Hills in an overt way. So on his SiriusXM show yesterday, Andy apologized and added that he also spoke to Garcelle privately.

“I need to really sincerely apologize not only for diverting the topic but for not returning–even worse–to the serious conversation that was at hand… I have deep admiration for Garcelle.”

The Bravo producer explained he had a “really good, productive conversation” with Beauvais after the second part of the season 12 reunion special aired.

“I should have been more in tune with her feelings,” he added, before addressing the online response to the segment. “I just wanted to say that because I’ve been logging in and I get it.”

Yeah, I’m sure he saw this back, called his editors, and was like: “The fuck, guys?! Now, I gotta go apologize!”

Uh-oh, time for Andy Cohen to take some of those Chris Harrison sensitivity training classes before he too, loses his easy-money hosting duties and gets replaced with a younger, less messy model.
