Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Are Reportedly Butting Heads With Netflix Over Cuts They Want To Make To Their Docuseries

Since America famously did an entire revolution so we wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with whatever it is King Charles III gets up to in his free time, it’s flummoxing to me that his son and his son’s wife, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, seem fixated on becoming the American Royalty they so obviously think we need, when we already have the Kardashians, the American Royalty we so obviously deserve. Our interest in The Sussexes is for entertainment purposes only, so if they’re not going to serve us up a heaping Hungry Man helping of revolutionary schadenfreude by reminding us why we bounced in the first place, then what use are they to us?

According to Page Six, that’s exactly what Netflix executives are asking themselves as Meghan and Harry “are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” the documentary they’ve been making for over a year now, now that THE QUEEN has died. Page Six reports:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are at odds with Netflix and even their own production team, sources told Page Six, as they backtrack on what they want to show the public in their upcoming docuseries.

The couple allegedly wants to cut chunks from the doc — which they have been filming for more than a year now — but Netflix chiefs are standing by the Sussexes’ filmmakers who want to keep the content, according to insiders.

“Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” a Netflix source told Page Six this week.

According to another industry source, “Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths.”

Impossibly, they seem to have been woefully unprepared for the death of Harry’s 96-year-old granny who died from “old age, and are now panicked,” about saying too much before His Royal Majesty Chuckie Trips decides whether or not to give their American kids the titles of Prince and Princess. Unfortunately, turns out THE REVOLUTION was a flop.

With Queen Elizabeth’s passing, the Sussexes’ children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, are now entitled to be called prince and princess, but the decision lies in the hands of their grandfather, the king.

But royal insiders have said that Charles will only make this decision once he has seen what Harry has written in his upcoming memoir, as well as what is included in the Netflix show.

Netflix wants the project to be ready for release “right after season 5 of “The Crown,” which drops on Nov. 9,” but Meghan and Harry reportedly want to hold off until next year. Page Six says the version that’s in the can right now is “believed to include a number of truth bombs involving King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton.” And Netflix paid for those truth bombs fair and square, same as the publisher’s of Harry’s upcoming memoir did.

Sources now say the couple actually started rethinking the show — which is being produced by their own company, Archewell — before the monarch died on Sept. 8 at age 96.

“They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided — to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely,” the Netflix source said. “Netflix is standing by the filmmakers.”

“Netflix has made it clear that the project is going forward,” said the industry source.

This is why in the movies when the hero burns the car/house/boat/castle to the ground, they walk away in slow motion. They don’t stand around waiting for the fire brigade and a photographer to show up to take their portrait in front of the smoldering wreckage. But since the rest of Harry’s family forgot to invite him to Royal portrait day at the palace, Harry and Megan took matters into their own carefully placed hands. You’re not gonna catch “America’s (exact title TBD)” copping a cheeky feel! Here are the portraits that were actually taken a few days before THE QUEEN kicked the bucket over to Chuckie Trips, but have just been released now for reasons.

Oh, snap. They’re running. #Meghan/Harry2024, #MakeAmericaAMonarchyAgain. According to Entertainment Tonight:

Making a statement without any words at all. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released some regal portraits, just days after the official royal portraits were released, in which they were notably absent.

“It’s all in the timing, isn’t it? It does sort of have a sense of ‘anything you can do we can do too,'” Nicholl shared. “It was quite polarizing, because you had, just two days before, that incredible image of the king and the Queen consort, and the new Prince and Princess of Wales.”

Royal expert Katie Nicholl recently spoke with ET’s Rachel Smith about the couple’s classy photos, and the significance they have amid the rift between Prince Harry and his family — which she details in her new book, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown.

“It said, ‘This is the future of the monarchy.’ Of course, so notable by their absence, was Harry and Meghan. So it didn’t surprise me to see an image of them so soon after,” Nicholl continued. “But it was a pretty bold move, as sort of a reminder that actually there is this alternative royal court across the pond.”

Oh, these sweet summer children. They have no idea what we expect from American Royalty, and it involves a lot more bare ass than I think they’re prepared to provide. You know what we say here in the New World— Ass, Grass, or Gas. Nobody rides for free*.
