Lena Dunham Got Dragged For Tweeting That She Wants Her Coffin Driven Through NYC Pride
Look up foot-in-mouth disease in the encyclopedia, and you’ll find a picture of Lena Dunham. The #1 symptom? Saying really dumb shit. Last year, 36-year-old Lena blamed some of her more ignorant moments on being young and having “huge blind spots.” And since she’s (mostly) stepped out of the spotlight these past few years, she hasn’t had a ton of public FIM flare-ups. But that all changed yesterday when Lena tweeted that when she dies, she wants her casket to be driven through NYC Pride with a plaque that reads: she wasn’t for everyone, but she *was* for us. Oh no.

When I think straight girl “gay icons,” I think of Cher, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears. It’s a divisive topic, but I’d be willing to bet good money that no one in any queer community anywhere would include Lena Dunham on their list. I was genuinely curious; what gave Lena Dunham the idea she’s a gay icon? My boyfriend had an interesting theory. He posited that Lena is surrounded by sycophants, some of whom are gay men who blow smoke up her ass and tell her she’s fabulous. Ipso facto, Lena is under the mistaken impression that all queer people love her. But even if she did believe that, that’s a thought you keep safely between the ears! Alas, this is where Lena gets tripped up by foot-in-mouth disease. Her corpse shouldn’t be paraded through the New York Pride March, it should be donated to science. So they can finally find a cure for FIM, once and for all!
