Whoopi Goldberg Apparently Got A Talking To After Making A Gay Joke About Lindsey Graham On “The View”

Today’s episode of And Whoopi Sighed finds our beleaguered co-host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, once again questioning her life choices after presumably getting an earful at the commercial break after making a crack about Senator Lindsey Graham’s sexuality on yesterday’s show with guest White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Unfortunately for Whoopi, the joke wasn’t that Senator Graham would fuck the devil himself in exchange for a discernible jawline, instead it was a lazy quip suggesting that his sudden reversal on regulating abortion and gay marriage at the federal level instead of leaving it to the states to decide, means he’s in a rush to get gay married before it’s too late. The joke was about as spicy as the mayo that leaks out of Lindsey’s pores when he sweats, but got a polite chuckle from the audience and panel. But after the break, Whoopi came out and said she “got a whole conversation about people misunderstanding the joke” and said, “I should probably never do this show again, if this is what it’s coming to.” My God, she’s this close to saying what we’re all thinking, if she’d only said “we” instead of “I.

Here’s what Whoopi said before the break that apparently caused whichever underpaid junior producer in charge of damage control to run up to Whoopi and refer her to the Big List of Things We Don’t Say Anymore they’ve had to wallpaper her dressing room with. According to Entertainment Weekly:

During a conversation with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Graham’s conservative views on abortion and same-sex marriage, Goldberg seemed to make a joke about Graham’s sexuality before the show went to a commercial break.

“Senator Graham said maybe about a month ago, in early August, that he believes, when it comes to marriage, when it comes to abortion, it’s for the states to decide, so, Senator Graham, what changed?” Jean-Pierre asked, to which Goldberg responded: “Well, maybe he’s getting married? Do it quick, because I know people are fooling around with our marriage rights, wherever you stand.”

Puh-lease, Whoopi. As if anybody would want to gay marry his ugly ass! Not even Lil Naz’ X’s horny gay Satan would touch his boil-pocked booty butt with a 5,000,000,000,000,000 foot stripper pole. Here’s the clip.

Of course, people have been joking that Lindsey is a Friend of Dorothy for as long as his jowls are, and maybe he is. It’s none of my business. That’s a courtesy I extend to him even though he’s a nosy ass bitch always up in other people’s business, and it’s a courtesy to myself to not have to think about Lindsey getting fucked in anyway but figuratively. Had Whoopi done the same, she wouldn’t be out here trying to dodge another two-week suspension.

When The View returned from the break, Goldberg turned to the camera and spoke to the audience.

“I need to make clear that I was doing what I do as a comic. Sometimes I make jokes, and it was a joke, nothing more than that,” the outspoken, Oscar-winning actress said. “I just got a whole conversation about people misunderstanding the joke. I mean, okay. I should probably never do this show again, if this is what it’s coming to. It was a joke, guys.”

Though Goldberg did not specify whom she had a “whole conversation” with about the joke’s impact, a source close to the situation tells EW that the follow-up statement was a clarification she wanted to make on her own.

Man, if I had Whoopi’s money and hated my job as much as she seems to, I would simply quit. Same goes for the universally unfuckable, and frankly, unlovable Senator from South Carolina who couldn’t get gay or straight married even if he wanted to since marrying your first cousin is illegal in all 50 states. What? Come on, guys. It’s a joke!
