Shania Twain Might Star As Mrs. Potts In ABC’s Live-Action “Beauty And The Beast” TV Special

Since Disney has pissed off an army of bottom-feeding racist trolls by casting Halle Bailey as Ariel in the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid movie, they figured why not further piss off the small-minded cretins by casting a Black lead in their small-screen ABC live-action/animated hybrid Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration special? Oscar-winning musician, H.E.R., snagged the lead role of Belle in the production. But, since she’s a bookworm, the scalawags who are pissed about Ariel may not consider Belle sacred since books are their Kryptonite. While many other celebs have signed on, castle head-bitch-in-charge, Mrs. Potts, was yet-to-be-determined, but Variety reports that iconic country star Shania Twain is in final talks to take on the role of the self-righteous teapot who tells everyone how to live their lives but couldn’t even prevent Chip from getting chipped.

Today is a big day for Shania because she also released the 80stastic video for her first single in five years, Waking Up Dreaming:

ABC’s Beauty and the Beast special will air on the network on December 15 and stream on Disney+, and in addition to Belle, the Beast, Cogsworth, Gaston, and the narrator have already been confirmed. Sources say that casting for Lumière and Mrs. Potts is nearly finalized with Martin Short and Shania taking the roles. via Variety:

The news comes just days after Variety exclusively reported that David Alan Grier will play the role of Cogsworth in the production. Previously announced cast members include Oscar winner H.E.R. as Belle, Grammy winner Josh Groban as Beast and Joshua Henry as Gaston. EGOT legend Rita Moreno will serve as the show’s narrator in the live-action/animated hybrid production.

The production team includes Superbowl Halftime Show mastermind, Hamish Hamilton, and the costumer from The Masked Singer, so this could all go very well or be a colossal failure, though nothing could turn out as horrendous as Peter Pan Live, so at least they have that going for them.

The Hamish Hamilton-directed special will be filmed live and feature never-before-seen musical performances. Jamal Sims is serving as executive producer and choreographer. Set design is by Julio Himede with costumes by Marina Toybina (“The Masked Singer”).

Jon M. Chu is executive producing the special, which is being produced by Done+Dusted in association with Walt Disney Television Alternative and Electric Somewhere.

Just toss in pantsless Gary Busey as “crazy old Maurice” and I’m sold! This is Shania’s opportunity for redemption after saying dumb shit about how she would have voted for Trump if she could because he was “honest” and “not a politician.” So if she doesn’t absolutely bring it by kicking open the china cabinet doors while pissing herself and howling “LET’S GO, PLATES!” and ultimately marry the wardrobe, Madame de la Grande Bouche’s husband, Monsieur de la Grande Bouche, after finding out that Madame fucked around with Mr. Potts–this entire production will be a waste of time and resources “that don’t impress me much.”
