Nicolas Cage Welcomed His Third Child, A Daughter Named August

September 8, 2022 / Posted by:

People is reporting that Nicolas Cage and his wife Riko Shibata have welcomed their first child together, daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage. Baby August arrived yesterday, making her exactly one week off from actually being born in August. And one day off from being a potential vessel for the reincarnated soul of THE QUEEN. So close!

August is 58-year-old Nic’s first daughter, but he has two other kids from previous relationships: sons Kal-El, 16, and Weston, 31. This is 27-year-old Riko’s first baby. A rep told People that “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter” and “mother and daughter are doing fine.” Riko is Nicolas’ fifth wife. They got married in February 2021 and announced their pregnancy in January.

Back in March, Nicolas told GQ that, if his baby was a girl, they were planning on naming her “Lennon Augie”. Augie was Nicolas’ late father’s nickname, and his full name was August Floyd Coppola. Looks like Nic and Riko decided to skip the nickname shit and just name their baby after August. I actually think it’s a cute name for a girl. Her middle name, “Francesca”, is after Nic’s uncle, Francis Ford Coppola, who Nicolas says recently changed his name to “Francesco” (allegedly).

Soon after the GQ interview, Nic confirmed he and Riko were having a daughter. And earlier in the year, he told Access Hollywood that he was “extremely excited” to have another baby, via People:

“My boys are all grown up, and I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair… I’m looking forward to getting back to that.”

Congrats to the Cage-Shibatas, but, like, did Nic baby-proof his Vegas mansion, which is famously packed to the brim with strange artifacts and animals? For example, Nicolas owns a talking crow named Huginn. Is a talking crow named Huginn safe for a newborn? Time will tell!
